Why do we need a federal education department?

The DOE has its issues, to be sure. But a DOE is necessary to keep various red states from mass, institutional, racial discrimination.

Well, this is is not a ringing endorsement of what we’ve been doing:

Don't phrase it like it's a bad thing. Bad reading skills are fundamental to a poor education and a poorly educated population is easier to manipulate than a well educated one.

What does the DOE do when these evil red states violate civil rights?

They take them to federal court (after some threats), so WTF is the use of the DOE when any citizen of said evil red state can sue in federal court.

The DOE administers programs and spending which helps prevent the substantial inequities which would otherwise exist if the red states could completely run education.

This. We need to acknowledge this, both sides of the aisle, that is precisely what is going on.. and we cannot fix it until we accept it

Lmfao please explain to us what exactly those scary republicans would do to racially discriminate if the DOE didn’t exist

What he means here is: black schools would not receive more funding than non-black schools if not for federal subsidies.

In his mind, that’s evil and racist if you don’t overfund the black schools
