Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

I understand this perspective, but I am not a fan of Tennessee because they generate revenue. The athletic department’s bottom line doesn’t impact my wallet. I am a fan of Tennessee because I love the university‘s student athletes and the program’s.

I saw a few people on Twitter put it to is way, and I agree, and I have gotten more happiness and joy out of 7 years of Tennessee baseball than I have of 25 years of mostly mediocre football, the king of revenue. That’s why it’s important for me to keep winning in a non-revenue sport, because it brings me joy. I don’t reap the benefits of high profit margins.
Well put Mookie!
Yes, I don’t give two 💩’s about revenue, I want to continue kicking teeth in on the diamond!
I’ve grown rather fond of it tbh.

DW is the best AD in the country and it’s not even particularly close either. So anyone hating wants us to go back to being non factors in all the major sports
No, just football, basketball, women’s basketball.
We still want to win titles in baseball, that’s why we want to keep CTV.
😝

Clearly, it’s not exclusively a DW reason why Tony is choosing to leave. We all understand that it’s the MLB and that is the primary draw. But there are enough people talking about how Tony and DW don’t have the best relationship that its clear that hasn’t helped. Danny better deliver a championship in football at some point.

Okay and why can’t we win titles in baseball going forward? Is Tony V the only coach capable of doing that? The program is built. New stadium coming. And I love Tony V but news flash if you don’t think Anderson and Elander are just as responsible for that natty and what’s been built, you’re not paying attention. This is a Ryan Day Ohio State situation. You promote and keep it rolling.

We have the best AD and Administration is decades, and some of you want to run the AD off for...his "ego". Vol fans need to be careful what they wish for. Until he makes a disastrous coaching hire in a revenue sport, I don't have any complaints. For those of us that lived through the Dickey days (when he couldn't give a rat's @ss about anything other than football), Mike Hamilton, Dave Hart, and Fulmer, to name a few--DW has done a great job.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when I've encountered DW haters IRL, when you put the screws to them to substantiate their opinion, they finally admit the only reason they don't like him is something to do with ticket prices.

I've seen posts in this thread claiming that if Tony leaves, it's got nothing to do with DW, but others (unsourced, of course) that imply DW is running him off. I have a difficult time believing that a seasoned AD would intentionally run off a NC-winning coach that revitalized the baseball program.
Where have I said DW needs to go? I’ll save you some time, I haven’t.

I can’t blame him if he goes. Now is his one shot at the MLB level. If it doesn’t work out, he can come back to the college ranks and pick his job in 2-3 years (Arkansas 🤮)

it’s irrelevant. Any college that came calling, Danny kept him here and made him the highest paid in the country. The guys could be BFFs and best men in each others wedding and if Tony wants to coach in the MLB, he’s going regardless.
