I don’t think Danny White is going anywhere, but he needs to learn how to check his ego and NOT to get sideways with the best coach on campus. All this brings up an interesting hypothetical question, and recency bias may play a roll in the answer...but, if one has to go, you are you keeping, Tony Vitello or Danny White?
I can see a scenario developing where this becomes an issue of the campus is only big enough for one of them. If boosters strong-arm Danny White into keeping Vitello at all costs against his recommendation of what he thinks is in the best interest of the athletic department as a whole, how long does Dr. Danny stick around believing he doesn't have the absolute authority he may have thought he had?
I’m guessing Carla leaves with Tony. Amiright?"Is Danny White a good AD or is he not. How can a good AD let the only Natty winning coach on campus get closer to the door??" Pretty sure that was @carla that just called in.,..
He had one previous misstep. Danny White implemented additional restricted, premium gates and chokeholds at Neyland Stadium creating a very dangerous situation before and after the UGA game. He owned it and we will see if it’s resolved when the Sooners come to town.Danny is in a very tenuous situation. Up until this point he has really not made a misstep large enough to cause any fan pushback. None of us like the higher prices and being squeezed, but if the programs are winning, people will live with it. If the football season doesn’t turn out like we want to and CTV goes to the Giants he’s gonna face some huge backlash and a lot of the fan mistreatment will come home to roost.
Fans being mad won't make a hill of beans difference.... Peyton Manning and Larry Pratt being pissed at him? That will spell the end of his AD tenure sooner, not laterDanny is in a very tenuous situation. Up until this point he has really not made a misstep large enough to cause any fan pushback. We have the best AD and Administration is decades, and some of you want to run the AD off for...his "ego".I don’t think Danny White is going anywhere, but he needs to learn how to check his ego and NOT to get sideways with the best coach on campus.
Agree, that’s why you got to prioritize the ones who win, right? Imagine Bama saying we’re willing to let Oats go because we need to be more equitable with women’s basketball. It brings up an interesting perspective. Is it better to be good at many sports across campus or great at one (fair in all others) when that one sport has produced a national championship and is positioned to compete for many more.Don't believe you can make every coach happy when you are attempting to be a "Everything" school..
True on the stadium access. I was thinking more coaching missteps or things that could really cost him equity with fans and influential donors. If he fixes the issue it will be water under the bridge. He had one previous misstep. Getting sideways with CTV is strike #2. He’s also credited with several hits and is considered one of the top ADs in the country. His recent award didn't exactly temper his ego.
