This. The score sucked, but the game was competitive. The breaks just went to Bama. On the other hand, the breaks went to us vs. Ark, and they aren't good. I just don't think anyone knows how good this team is. The Vols could finish 4-0 or 1-3 in the SEC.

I will 100% disagree with that last statement.
Kitselman had drops last year too.
Mathew’s was recruited for defense by a lot of teams because he didn’t have great hands and he has too many drops at UT to consider his hands great.

The stats say we were equal to them.
The score says otherwise.

13 missed tackles I think was the number I heard, multiple drops, the usual # of pre snap penalties.

I don’t care how equal the stats say we are if we can’t get better at several things it isn’t going to matter.

Right now, Tennessee’s only SEC wins are against teams that are winless in conference, and we play winless Kentucky next. So we are sort of being propped up by an easier schedule.

Trying to sell a 2–5 Arkansas team as “maybe the best 2–5 team in the country” doesn’t really help the case. They’re 0–4 in the SEC, haven’t beaten a Power 5 team, and being close in losses doesn’t change the fact that they’re losing consistently. There’s no trophy for "almost."

Arkansas had the Aggies on the ropes too. Same with Ole Miss

That offense is as good as any in the country

I don't know whether to believe it or not but the truth is somewhere in the middle just like every dilemma..

I will say trying to be an "Everything" school probably causes some strain somewhere , don't think it's possible to keep every coach happy when they all are needing money for NIL purposes....

- He is about to get a 5 star QB and a 5 star WR to add to this roster with more talent in the defensive front 7.
- We just need a few tweaks and to add some talent to the defensive backend.

And my post was unclear - I wasn’t saying the University would fire him after the season. I was speaking to the fanbase - the fanbase needs to keep supporting him at a high level whatever happens the rest of this year. I don’t think we can measure his true impact for another 2-4 years.

If we are still losing these big games and peaking at 8-9 wins in 2028, I get starting to think maybe we should move on. But not right now.

If our recruiting/portal work had fallen off in the last couple of years, just in the slightest, I'd entertain it a bit more.

Correct.

Until the first game, we didn't know whether to pray for 7-5 or strive for 11-1. Joey was (much) better than expected initially so everyone cranked Rocky Top back up to 10 and dusted off their 11-1 and 12-0 predictions.

The season still trends well above disaster. 10-2 is still very much on the table.

You don't trade a car that is 90% great for one that has the 10% great of what your car lacks and the other 90% is garbage. Heup may have a tail light out but he's still a hot rod, and the only time the tail light is noticed is when he is blowing by you.
