'25 Recruiting Forum: Official TSIO Alabama vs Tennessee Pre-game/Game Thread

Again , lack of accountability from the coaches. You think it don’t stick in guys’ heads that someone is allowed to play after skipping an entire summer workout grouping.
Notice, no one celebrates with boo if and when he makes a play, notice no one runs to help him up.
I was literally 23’s biggest fan last year, and I feel like he should have been removed from the team
This team is begging to be held accountable, and the guys with the polos aren’t doing so
This is ironic bc I've spent the last few weeks arguing with at least 1 poster who insists Boo should be playing more and over McMurray.

Boo got punished and had to work his way back. Whether he was punished enough or did enough to earn playing time... only guys in the room know that. But its clear his teammates don't like him.

I also don't know what you do about Redmond. Not exactly another option.

Imagine if McCoy and Gibson weren't hurt. Hood and Redmond would be backups, and Hood's working his way into a 1st rd grade. We could literally have 3 1st round CBs on the field at once. Ugh

Here’s what I know about the bama game nearly every year

Bama will come out extremely physical in the first quarter so as to make a point that they are going to Big Dog us physically

And for whatever reason our guys just wilt under that physicality and play soft the rest of the game

It’s so bizarre it really only happens on the third Saturday in October. It’s like whoever establishes physical supremacy early gets the edge the rest of the game. Makes any act of physical equality an anomaly (and easily penalized)

Watch what we do to Kentucky this week and ask yourself where this was against bama. I know Kentucky sucks but the point is physicality. We are going to come out of the gate smacking them in the jaw and I’m almost certain we can do that to anyone including bama but we start out soft like we are too nervous to do anything early

How we lost to Bama was strikingly similar to how they lost to FSU

How many of those are we actively recruiting? 1? The guy from south carolina, anyone else?

Well for 2027 I’m pretty sure we’ve offered all of them.

What if those other players just aren’t interested? Can’t waste valuable resources continuing to go after guys that straight up aren’t interested.

But a poster on VN doesn’t think he should be on the team and that’s what matters!!
That’s a fact the “player council allowed him back”
That player council is also a handful of guys that are the extension of the coaching staff.

With him being back, does it look like he’s been accepted back by all? Just from your eyes. Maybe I’m seeing things, but when plays are made, groups of guys usually ham it up, when do you see that with 23?
How often do you see guys rush to pick him up?

But again, those are things that maybe I only notice.

Toughness comes from the top.
Toughness should be a non negotiable.
I just watched an interview of Arizona state coach saying how he noticed he relented from his usual physical practices and the team suffered and after the last loss to Utah he promised to bring things back. I’ll post the vid when I find it. It’s really good

Thats true, then you need to get a defensive staff member that can recruit them.

Yeah well, idk man I think toughness comes from inside the individual spirit. Coaches can preach it and they can try and coach it but it comes down to the type of guy you are

Look at Tyre West and look at Boo Carter it’s like two different types of people on the field

Not every guy is wired the same that’s why the guys at the top have to instill it. Has to be an everyday non negotiable.

Tyre gives his all and Boo makes "Business Decisions" while on the field...

This is true. There are a few things that impact a person's toughness. Interpersonal qualities. Life circumstances. The way they learn to react to adversity during childhood. A coach preaching it or demonstrating it can have some impact. But I think it's down the list.

I think when you see a coach who has a team that year in, year out shows lots of toughness, it is not so much about how they coach. It is more so about who they choose to recruit.

Toughness is teachable. Toughness isn’t about wanting to fight. It’s repeatedly giving maximum effort when things look dark.
And allowing people to not fight during these times and rewarding it is teaching the opposite

We need some more dogs in the backend
Safeties are supposed to be fast and knock your lights out
We’re severely missing that

And said poster uses said player as their profile picture. The irony.

it should tell you how I was once his biggest fan until he showed his ass to his teammates and us.
I’ve said numerous times how much I thought he was a potential star.
I don’t feel that way anymore and his actions have shown he is not for the team:
Btw, I just haven’t had the time to change the picture.

I would argue very few players that are DAWGS get that way thru being taught that way by a college coach. I think parents and coaches when they are younger have more impact on that. Plus many of them just being wired that way.

Dawgs are a notch above tough. There’s only a handful of dawgs on most teams, agreed?

Who would you say is a dawg on our team? On defense, Tyre, Joshua… that’s all I got.
Joey on offense.

One of many things that annoy me about this team is the substitutions. Why can't our players, specifically Arion Carter, play more consecutive series. I understand rotating guys especially the DL, but there is no reason Bolton, Teelander, Walton, and Wright should be out there. Oh and Weathersby, has he ever made a play? Especially at the same f*ing time! Is it a conditioning thing? Our guys look gassed af and they only play 1-2 series.

What is this “toughness” rating based on?
Based on not ducking your head to tackle at the goal line when your last line of defense.. Based on not running around blocks when you should be run fitting but there’s a 300lb guard pulling. Based on sticking your neck into a pile to keep a back from getting an extra yard on 4th and one…

Hope I’m wrong, but we always have a close one in Kentucky. Kind of expecting the same here.
