Road to Playoffs IMO - Post UK

I'm really not trying to be a nega, but I just don't know if we could compete with any elite teams right now. I just don't think it's smart for recruiting to put that on national TV.
We have competed against the two best teams in the SEC

What's your alternative? Hope we lose 4 games so we can look good against opt outs 2nd stringers of Illinois or Iowa?

I'd rather go to the playoffs and every once in awhile lose to a great team, than go to a minor bowl

Buddy we’re calling peewee run fake plays on the GL with seconds left when everyone with eyeballs knew what we had to do there. The play abd the coaching was just flat out sloppy.

We haven’t played a team yet that just looked like “they should’ve beaten us”. Both losses we’ve done it to ourselves. Some of the sloppiest damn football I’ve ever seen at this level.

Yeah, with this defense I don't see UT winning out. And that settles the playoff questions, so...
I’ve been critical of the defense this year, but last night wasn’t on the defense. Our offense gave up a 14 pt swing and a safety last night. Then our coaching staff passed up on 2-3 FG. Our secondary wasn’t great for sure, but we gifted them 20 pts.

Yes to the two best teams in the SEC...

still a far cry from saying "I could find 25 teams that are better than us" which is just an asinine emotional statement

Need to win out, obviously.

Probably need uga and bama to win out for sake of our resume. Need our opponents on schedule to win as many games as possible while dropping games to us or others enough to not beat us out for spots. It would be tremendous for msu, ark, vandy, Kentucky, uf to cause some chaos with the teams currently slated ahead of us.

If 4 SEC teams make it (only 3 made it last year: Texas, uga, Tennessee), need one of ole miss or tamu to fall short, preferably in a late season collapse type of way or bad losses. If only 3 make it in, we are a long shot.

Bama, uga, 2 of ole miss/tamu/Tennessee (IF 4 SEC make it in)

Others to fall:

Ole miss (UNLIKELY):
Needs to lose at least 1 (if late in season or to really bad team), or maybe 2.
- at Oklahoma or against Florida at home look like only realistic possiblities

TAMU (50/50 Likelihood):
Needs to lose AT LEAST 2, and timing probably matters. Late season would be best, or losses to bad teams.
- possibilities include: lsu, mizzou, Texas

Oklahoma (LIKELY):
Needs to lose to us AND 1 of:
- ole miss, bama, Mizzou, lsu

Texas (LIKELY):
Needs to lose 1
- uga, Vandy, ark, tamu, msu

Vandy (LIKELY)
Needs to lose to us
- other potential losses to Mizzou, Texas, Auburn, kentucky

Mizzou (LIKELY):
Need to lose 1
- Possibilities: Vandy, Tamu, OU, ark
Playoffs. Seriously. Have you been keeping up with this team

Last night was atrocious play and coaching. At what point do you take your orange glasses off and finally admit that we have some issues?

And honestly 25 might be a reach. But 15-20 is factual, not emotional. We are not a playoff team.

Check your math. The defense gave up 28 points. The offense gave up 9. The Pick 6 is for sure a 10 and maybe a 14-point swing. Despite that, UT had more passing and rushing yards than Bama. The Devil was in the details last night, and UT came up short on both sides of the ball.

The offense had a rough night. Bound to happen sooner or later, and maybe again. The defense has made its bones on turnovers and timely TFL's. When they don't get them, this is a bottom 3rd SEC defense.

UT defense is giving up 30 a game to P4 opponents. Last night they hit their average, and got no help from the offense.

My point here is that while the offense can and has bailed out the defense, the defense has not returned the favor thus far. I think that costs UT at least one more loss down the stretch.

But, I'm wrong a lot, so...we'll see.

Can't lose any more, period. Will probably need help along the way too. But unless the back end of the defense can find themselves....they're not going far. The offense scoring points for the other team isn't helpful either...

Playoffs? Hilarious. Road to respectability is more like it. Get over the delusions. This is not an SEC championship team. Damned sure isn't a playoff team. Time to scout the lower levels for talent to steal in the portal. GoVols 🍊

There are absolutely at least 15 right now. Where do you think we end up in the rankings if we drop another game? 20ish? Maybe further?

Rankings aren’t based on your orange glasses, hopes and dreams. Rankings are based on what we put on the field. Last night was flat out embarrassing.

ND locked up their slot when they beat USC yesterday. They will cruise thru the rest of their schedule and get in at 10-2.

Oregon thought they would cruise through the rest of their schedule too - how did that work out for them?
Miami thought they would cruise through the rest of their schedule too - how did that work out for them?

This year is different - no team is safe. OSU looks safe, but it is a given they will lose to Michigan - they always do.

Go ahead and list them

Same could be said for Georgia and Bama - when you look at them objectively, they have similar issues with defense.

Georgia is very likely to lose at Mississippi State and I do expect Tech to beat them.

Completely embarrassing. We need to make sure our recruiting holds up. Alabama had a major visit weekend of kids from the next 3 classes. And they all saw us eat it. Badly.

Wait on the rankings Monday and you’ll get to see them for yourself. Then when we drop another game, and I believe that’s a high probability, we will be right in that range I just stated.

If you watch last night and something about that screams PO team you need meds.
SO you can't name 20 teams better then?
