A@M survived Arkansas barely does that make them overrated now. That how some folks roll. I thought arky would play them tough, there defense isn’t great but their offense makes them dangerous. And yes the Aggies are still a good team. GBO

Look, we had no timeouts. We had to throw at the end of the half. Joey should have never thrown that ball.. maybe it wasn’t a great play design. But at worst you throw it away or take a sack.
Thats a good comparison. Bama in the red zone, pass to the back who runs untouched into the end zone. UT gets to the red zone and every inch is a battle. This was an extinction level event.

I agree that it should’ve been a fade route.
But you can’t risk getting stuffed and leaving with no points. The call had to be a TD or a field goal
I’d rather have gotten stuffed or taken the pus$ route and kicked the field goal ala Butch Jones! We rushed less tonight against one of the worst rush defenses we have seen than we did against UGA one of the better rush defenses. Also, if your offensive play calls are bad enough you can’t pick up a yard in that situation against their terrible DL against the rush, it would have been on the O at that point. Instead we called a horrific play call and well it ended the way it could end up taking the chance with that play call he did! Either way it was on coach for a stupid play call! Of course we also had no TO’s because our Mensa HC and his going into halftime clock management, but it’s always been that way, so I guess we can’t expect a change.

I think most of us know deep down. But some here aren’t willing to admit it. This is mark richt
I see it too. CJH is likable and fans are just happy we aren’t in the dooley, butch, pruitt era. Honestly I also feel like we’re just stuck with “ good enough” bc im not sure who to hire. If CJH is serious about getting to championships he needs to make changes imho. Everything in that program has to get better

Media folks blowing bama up all week, their good but they aren’t great. They limited mistakes tonight and we didn’t. That was the only difference. If you looked at the stats you would have figured it was close game.

And most of our fans are too stupid to get it

Play happened because every person watching the game knew it was a pass because CJH ran on first instead of throwing so we had no time outs. He throws on first then in second we can still run or throw and then call a time out. Bad throw and bad coaching.

We lost in most aspects of the game.

I think we definitely mismanaged that sequence but again he called a very good game overall. We moved the ball very well

Bama lost to a terrible fsu team that’s about to drop 4 in a row. These random comparisons make no sense.

Agreed. Plus they lost that game because they had no gameplan for Castellanos. Now teams have figured out if you just stack the box and take away the scramble he's a very poor passer. If Bama played FSU later in the year they would've crushed them.

Correct. You kick a FG there, get the three and out after the half, Bishop scores, you're now winning the game 17-16. That changes the mood of the game quite a bit I'd imagine.
It wasn’t even at the point where we had to choose between a field goal or to take the risk. It wasn’t 4th down and we had 9 seconds with a timeout. If you are going to be critical don’t be an idiot about it

I'm not being an idiot about anything--you had time for one or two more plays to the end zone, at worst you need to come away with 3 points. It was a bad play call and executed even worse. Bama called a timeout because they knew it was coming as we've used that same play in the past. We came out of the timeout and lined up the exact same way to run the same play. They knew the play call and it was obvious based on the corner staying home and waiting for the pass. At some point as a coach making millions it should dawn on you that if the defense calls a timeout they are doing so to adjust to your formation so it might be best to come out with a new play call. It was preventative. If the play isn't there you throw it out of bounds. And furthermore, the play fake made it even worse because everyone and their brother knew we weren't running it. The spin around and throw only made it tougher for Aguilar.

Also at that point we were out of timeouts which is exactly why we threw it.

If we just cut our mistakes in half, we win this game. False starts, PI, ineligible downfield, and a pick 6 at the goal line. Clean all that up and we win handily. It's an on-going problem that CJH needs to address if we are ever to threaten with a championship. We've got the players, and we've got the system. but "the team with the fewest mistakes will win."

poor poor coaching
Clearly. I keep hearing that UT just needs to "clean things up" and we'll be right there. Well, we're 7 games in and the same issues continue. One would assume that if these issues were correctable and/or that this staff had the ability to correct them, they'd have done it by now. That being said, I don't expect us to suddenly start tackling or calling plays better. I think this roster is very limited at certain positions and the staff has no answers.

Most disappointing to me were the constant “unforced” mistakes of false starts, illegal formation, bad snap, offensive PI. They didn’t give themselves a chance to win the game with all these mental mistakes before or at snap.

Overall, to me, it was one of the poorest performances of the Heupel era.

“We gotta get it cleaned up” ain’t getting it done.

Absolutely. We score there instead and it's a completely different game.

To me the other big sequence was not being able to drive for a score after the Simpson fumble. We get points there and make it a one-score game and who knows?

Even Banks' blitzes weren't getting home, Simpson was essentially untouched all night, and the tackling late got really shoddy.
This was most disappointing for me. Joey may have been more hurt than we thought? That pick 6 turned the game to them and cost us 14 points. Three to make up before the game end would have been manageable. No sacks by our def or really good stops. Just not our night at all. But I’m disappointed for sure!!

As far as tackling goes .... Do you remember the play where Alabama was attempting a lateral/throwback pass to the QB ? We snuffed it out and had Simpson covered, and we had defenders in position to make the tackle for a loss .... but then just whiffed, and allowed a big gain into Tennessee territory. That was embarrassingly bad tackling.
