I don't keep up with baseball much but he really did build that program into a winner. I hate to see it. Hopefully we can get us a winner to replace himWe're it that easy. This isn't LSU. Vitello IS the program. Delmonico had his years, but no one has done more or gone higher than Vitello in our program. He's simply not replaceable IMO.
If CTV leaves, I think they promote Coach Elander and convince Coach Anderson to stay for another year as his #2. Not the 2 most outgoing or charismatic coaches but hopefully the rest of the staff make up for it. Again, I think both Elander and Anderson are outstanding in their current roles. But if you don't promote Elander he probably is gone ...new Head Coaches from outside the family usually bring their own staff ...
It’s about legacy and what did you do to challenge yourself. He has already accomplished everything anyone could have imagined at Tennessee. Winning a World Series is the ultimate prize in the sport of baseball and the majority of people involved in the sport would trade a national championship for a World Series.I’m sorry you missed my point about the impact a manager has over a college program vs MLB program. CTV is the CEO/GM over TN Baseball. He’d be a highly paid manager for the Giants If I was Boyd, I’d have him reporting directly to Boyd (who is a huge baseball guy) so CTV doesn’t have to deal with the worst part of his job….Danny White.
Vitello is a generational, larger than life coach. If you were using artificial intelligence to build a college baseball coach, you’d leverage CTV’s DNA. He’s simply the best….no one can fill his shoes. While I can understand that, Vitello is a unicorn. I'd bet it all that White won't come anywhere close to finding another Vitello. Then again I'm not sure he'd care.

Or on the Athletic Director that has provided us with the most successful all sports run in the history of the school, based on a rumor, started by a radio goofball.Only this fanbase would turn on a coach a year removed from a Natty because he gets an opportunity to take a major step up in his career. Lay off the bottle guys.
I can’t argue that point. Does he want his legacy to be molding young men and winning NCs along the way to being one of the best college coaches in the history of the sport? Or, does he want to take over a top MLB program and attempt to win a WS. I’m hoping it’s the former. If he chooses to stay, he’s instantly a bigger rock star than any coach on the planet….It’s about legacy and what did you do to challenge yourself. I will put my house on the line that he won't win a MLB WS.It’s about legacy and what did you do to challenge yourself. He has already accomplished everything anyone could have imagined at Tennessee.
