Ask @Weezer , he knows.ok, thanks.
what is that?
You don’t have the control or autonomy in the MLB that you do here. If he goes he’ll hate it and regret it for forever. Think Nick Saban and Miami Dolphins. Steve Spurrier and Washington.Danny White is the only reason Tony is still here.
Tony is already among the highest paid coaches in MLB.
With California taxes and cost of living, they'd have to raise him to at least meet his current take-home pay which would probably make him a Top 5 manager in terms of pay. So, if this happens I don't think its a money thing I think its about the prestige of being a head coach in the MLB and I don't blame him really. He won the whole thing, and now he can chase something that few, if anyone, has ever accomplished.
Let's secure Elander.
You don’t graduate from bama. You get given a piece of paper after 8 years there because they need to make room for the next class of Walmart assistant managers.
It’d be foolish to think great success at the collegiate level will translate to the pros. It’s comparing apples and oranges, even in the NIL era. Plenty of examples of legendary college coaches that have tried and failed. I’m not aware of many that have ever done it successfully.Yall gotta think more realistically here.
Tony is a first time HC, has built an elite program and won a national championship at 47. He is the hottest name in baseball.
If he leaves for San Francisco it has nothing to do with money or NIL or DW.
It has everything to do with “Am I good enough to do this at the highest level” and those of you that know baseball will agree a college coach with no professional experience getting an opportunity almost never happens.
So this very well could be Tony’s only shot to make this move.
It’s MLB vs College in this decision, nothing else.
This is where I am as well.Yall gotta think more realistically here.

Devers fittin to spit a wad of chaw in Tony’s face the first time he tries something.Rafael Devers has a $313 million dollar guaranteed contract. Good luck motivating him especially after first time CTV jumps his ass for not hustling... MLB players are totally different from the college guys... But I wish CTV well if it's true ..

Every competitor if they reach the pinnacle at their current level at least ask the question, 'could I win at a higher level?' Some get the opportunity, some don't. Some win at that next level, some don't. This is a top 10 all-time MLB franchise that's apparently pursuing Tony V. They're doing that based on what he's built. I couldn't name a player on UT's baseball roster when he was hired. Now I'm keeping up with baseball recruiting and fall ball scrimmages and I don't even like baseball that much! I'm doing it because of what was built and the sustained excellence. I hope that continues with or without Tony V. But regardless, this isn't Tony spurning UT if he leaves. It's a competitor seeing if he can win at the highest level (and he will be getting to coach Drew Gilbert again).
I'm grateful for what he's accomplished and hope he stays, but if not, I'm not seeing him as Benedict Arnold.
