Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I say this is a major distraction created by Tony so the Volunteers are so concerned about losing him that we say wtf and beat some bama a$$ tonight. Then while everyone is smoking victory cigars tonight Tony announces he’s staying home in Tennessee. In the words of Tony V you’re either a Vol or you’re not. I say he’s a Vol. man I hate Alabama with a burning passion. Go Vols.
Actually this breaking on the TSIO is inexcusable. Everyone that contributed to this distraction is PNG as far as I am concerned. Nothing but self-serving horse 💩

How is it a distraction? The football team doesn't care enough for it to affect their performance. It sucks for the fans but won't affect the game tonight whatsoever

I see absolutely no way that Tony would let this break the day we played Alabama when our athletic director is in Tuscaloosa. SF is trying to force his hand in my humble opinion. But to do it on today of all days, hopefully backfires and blows up in their face and he stays.
If true, SF can't break off and sink into the Pacific fast enough. This is worthy of going OT on anyone involved.

is TPL Tennessee reliable?

TPL spoke to a member of the team in the locker room right after Coach gathered the team and shared it with them. The exact quote was: "Coach Elander is organized and they are in good hands"He meets with the Giants tonight to finalize the deal.
Dooley was organized too they said.

Ur kidding right? This isn't a distraction to the AD and support functions or the people who fund most of this? And the fans don't matter? Without those fans you dismiss there is no revenue or NIL or anything else.

Danny White is the only reason Tony is still here.

Tony is already among the highest paid coaches in MLB.

With California taxes and cost of living, they'd have to raise him to at least meet his current take-home pay which would probably make him a Top 5 manager in terms of pay. So, if this happens I don't think its a money thing I think its about the prestige of being a head coach in the MLB and I don't blame him really. He won the whole thing, and now he can chase something that few, if anyone, has ever accomplished.

Let's secure Elander.

Is anyone watching the Georgia game and see the play where the running back was hit at the line of scrimmage and all of a sudden Ole Miss had the ball, but the referee said they called it down? Did you notice how TV did not show any replay of it to see what happened and if he actually fumbled? Then, Georgia hits a big pass play and they show a replay from two different angles. Seems fishy to me.

UCLA came for Barnes in 2019, but they refused to pay his buyout to get him.

Fulmer didn’t really do anything to keep him, after that UCLA search though Barnes was given an extension.

DW didn’t come to town until 2021.
I was going to say I bet the boosters had more to do with it than Fulmer.

Honestly, I don't get the TV thing for the Giants. He's an elite recruiter. Has a great pitching coach tied to him.

Feels like trying to take Saban to the pros after a title with LSU.

He's great in this medium, but not sure how it will transfer.
I guess if you’re Tony it’s a no risk move. If you go and aren’t successful the minute you decide to come back to college you are instantly a hot commodity that teams are lining up to hire. I personally don’t think he will translate to MLB as it’s simply about who has the most $.
