Defense

Tennessee’s defense have given up 600+ yards in the last three SEC games, you’re not gonna win anything of significance doing that. Also, we have one really good linebacker that starts and then an all heart and very little talent other linebacker that starts. I can’t believe we don’t have a better athletic linebacker to start ahead of #22

Oh, I don't!

TN got a bunch of lucky breaks that year. But you always thought the D would get it done.

Not this year.

Every opponent's possession is a sphincter clenching, prayer inducing, please let the D NOT give up 3rd and 22 this time, well crap possession this year

It's just what it is until changes on that side of the ball are made
With our defense I would go for it on 4th down every time I was inside the 50 yard line. I rather take my chances of making 4th and 10 than our defense stopping the opposing team with them starting on their own 1 yard line. I might even go for it on 4th down anywhere on the field becasue with Bama offense they will score every possession, unless we do much better on defense. So I would give defense a chance on first possession but if Bama scores I trust the offense more than our defense.

Dominated a few possessions there and got the 17 point lead and then as always coaches took the air out of the ball and tried to run out the clock. We also went into a prevent defense of sorts especially on that third and ten when they scored that last touchdown. In that position you give the rush all you have if he makes the play fine. You don't give him all day to find an open guy.
And did the same against Ga the second qtr when we got up i think 21 to 7. We do not play anywhere near as effeciently on offense running the clock down. I hope when we get a lead on Bama he doesn't do the same thing.

What I really don't understand and is a really bad look for Banks is, I've seen some mock drafts that have 3 defensive players taken in the first round (McCoy, Hood, Josephs). Granted McCoy has not played. But still, given how good we are at TFLs and sacks, and the fact we have a first round pick (about to have 2) at corner, an elite LB in Carter, and still give up so many yards.....it has to be scheme. There is no other answer.
Imo you are right, that is what I have been saying for some time. The defensive scheme. We are giving way too much cusion on plays on the pass.

I would go for it 33-40 yard line if 3-4 yards to go.

There is something to say about pinning a team inside the five yard line as many will run the ball on 1st and 2nd down. Of course, Simpson would probably lead Bama tona 98 yard drive if that scenario played out.

Gilbert scares me a bit and not sure how he will do from 47-52 - especially in a big game.

Simpson not a bad runner either, you will probably see that Sat. night
This. The kid has wheels. He’s not a statue standing in the pocket. It wouldn’t surprise me if Bama has a few plays for him Saturday.

If I had to bet, I’d put the over on 35 rushing yards for him v TN.
