Jay Graham Arrested

What are they going to get charged with? Trespassing at most. Maybe for loitering if they are just cruising the neighborhood to see where to rob.
So you disagree with people being charged with conspiracy to commit murder? You're perfectly fine with someone wanting and planning to kill you as long as they don't actually do it?

I thought I remembered hearing that to be the case in a state or two. Not saying it makes things OK here, but some of our grandparents or maybe even parents got married before 18 years old.
I worked for 20 years for a couple that got married here in Georgia when she was 15 years old. They were married for over 70 years before he passed.

You can be charged with “attempt”.

Of course it’s up to the prosecution to prove that you did intend to commit a crime and took a significant step toward executing the crime.

For example, the guy that showed up to Mara-largo golf course with a rifle. He didn’t fire a shot or even take aim that we know of, yet he was charged with an attempted assassination.

So if someone had plans to rob a house, showed up with the tools to carry out their plan, but was stopped before they could execute it, was there no crime?
I think that's what they call "attempted" robbery maybe. Won't get much for it, but it also doesn't involve trying to bang a minor, free or paid.

Maybe attempted depends on th magnitude of the attempt. Sitting in the van casing a house vs being on the front porch tools in hand trying to pry the door open. ???

I didn’t actually see when the alleged age was disclosed. I believe every one of us has based our opinions on this presumption.

I assumed the lack of clarification on the actual timing was intentional in order to compel our emotions.

Women lie about their age.. The officer could be 50 years old for all that I have been able to gather. I’m saying that because I don’t have a clue how old the officer actually is. If she’s young and could pass as a 16 year old, then I’m more in favor of “he is a pedophile”.
As written, if chronologically correct, the age was disclosed while communicating, before he went to the hotel.

Sentence 1.) Police said Graham allegedly responded to one of the ads and engaged in a conversation with an undercover officer posing as a juvenile.

Sentence 2.) The undercover officer identified herself as a 16-year-old.

Sentence 3.) Graham and the undercover officer agreed on a price of $120 for sex, and Graham went to a Nashville hotel room.

Sentence 4.) There, he gave the undercover officer $120 and was immediately taken into custody, according to the MNPD.

So, if this was indeed the chronological order of events, and is verified, he knew she was a minor upfront and did it anyway. I'm no lawyer, but common sense tells me if the age is not revealed up front in these stings then you will be facing an entrapment argument. My guess is ages are revealed when first communicating so as not to muddy the waters by waiting till they get to hte door. Even if the age is not revealed until they reach the hotel, it would legally have to be revealed prior to exchanging money, with a chance to walk away, or it would be entrapment cut and dried. Even then, they could still arrest him on the way out for misdemeanor intent to solicit, just not felony with a minor.

You can't just go by looks for anyone even on a normal dating scene. I see 30 year olds that look and sound 13. I see 12 year olds that look and sound like mature women. It's really easy to screw up if you don't ask questions, or just behave like a decent peron at the least. One of the local middle schools had a large group in bowling last week. One of the girls was clearly over developed, and when she came to the counter to ask for something me and my partner just cut our eyes toward each other. She literally sounded like a 30 something woman. But people are sick and stupid. Graham willfully did it. These school teacher women do it all the time. Got a whole thread on those busts in the Zone or Pub. The Little House on The Prairie days of marrying at 15 are long gone.

The rule with news articles is that if they didn’t say it in a specific way, it didn’t happen in that specific way. Dramatization is what sells.

For instance: Whenever the headline is in the form of a question, the answer is always “no”.

If they do not specifically name a timeline of events, then it was intentionally misleading.

16 is age of consent in Georgia.
That may be, but it is no less gross for a 50 old to be soliciting a 16 year old just cause it's legal age. Then again it's also gross for Billicheck to have a 20 something. Especially gross for her. She gotta have a side kick her age roaming around nearby. Or that blonde celebrity whose man was elderly in a wheel chair. Forget her name.

I can accept that. But, we don't know how it was given to the reporter either. Fact remains, at anytime the age is given before the offering and acceptance of money, the perp has a chance to retreat. No money, no crime. Not a felony anyway. Best they'd have if you walk away at last minute is a misdemeanor not involving a minor cause you refused the minor but still had intent to pay for illegal sex. THat's why common sense tells me the age is revealed far enough ahead that there is no fine line at the meet up. It creates more time space between revelation and showing up to complete the transaction that there can be no dispute of entrapment. So, I'd guess this order of events is accurate or they'd have no case or cause to arrest him under felony charges.

Heck people get arrested all the time for the child porn stuff on their computers and they never even attempt to solicit sex. I know a peson that got that tacked on to some possession charges for having a pic of a girl in a bikini on his phone they said was underage without any proof she was underage or who it was. Not even pornographic. But, he'd been in some on going possession trouble on and off for some time, they were crooked cops (my hometown so I know how crooked), and they hated him. He's years away from clearing probation. The last time he was arrested that involved the picture, he wasn't even doing anything. He was just stupid enough to go back for some reason and as soon as they saw his car they stopped him and found some old residue. He had been in so much trouble back then though, he and his parents just ran out of money trying to fight them. Thankfully he's clean for 7-10 years now and has a great job i hooked him up with. They were so desparate for skilled workers they were willing to overlook his record and give him a shot, and he's now a crew leader knocking down some good change and they love him.

Jesus was the only one who needed to die for others sins. In this story, it’s just a man and a police officer.

The man tried to solicit sex from someone who was not under age. End of story.
Seeing he's round about 50ish now, I seriously doubt he woke up yesterday and decided he'd be that stupid for the first time in his life. He's done this before. Who knows why. He can probably have most anyone he wants free of charge. When it comes to felony sex crimes against minors, they don't have to actually be 16. That's what makes it a sting operation, just like drug sting operations, or posting some kind of sweepstakes win to get wanted criminals to show up and get arrested. The perp shows every intent to commit the crime when they know the supposed age and still show up and pay money. I have read of these stings before though where they used an actual minor online and followed a script under the presence and direction of LE.

The cautionary takeaway is not that someone IS a perv or pedo... but that they BECAME a perv or pedo--because that means any of us could, too.

I doubt anyone came out of the womb genetically predisposed to seek sexual desires that society or scripture prohibit. But there's always a downward progression--sporadically but willingly initiated--that leads people to crash on the rocks.

When "making love to one's life partner" (giving and sharing sex) devolves into just getting sex (satisfying self) it's easy not to notice that we've left one path and are now on another.

Our brain is our largest sex organ, and it seems anytime we get devoted to self fulfillment (not just sexual or sensory fulfillment) we inevitably end up chasing greater frequency, and then greater novelty. Our brains are just wired so that identical experiences cease to satisfy over time. And so we begin to experiment, seeking new variations as our brain chemistry demands the same level of pleasure as previously achieved.

[insert video of George Costanza eating a deli sandwich while having sex -- or... just quote Solomon in Ecclesiates ch. 2]

It's sad that someone from our VFL tribe has fallen (however willingly, intermittently along the way). But let's not dismiss him as someone "different from" or "weaker" than us. He may just be our future self if we don't take stock of what we're doing and thinking today. For sure, there's nothing in popular culture that's gonna set healthy boundaries for us!

Note: Yesterday (Oct.15) the CEO of ChatGTP, Sam Altman, announced that that they will soon open their AI "services" to erotica for verified adults. Anything sexual that you can imagine... and digitally recorded forever that you requested it?
I'm sure no one's ever gonna take advantage of that information down the road!

Anyway, that's why I'm encouraging us all to be real about Jay Graham, and be real about our future selves and who we could become, further down a bad path.
May be too philosophical for some but I feel ya in this.
