Does she even look like a kid? If I’m one of their lawyers, I’m just saying he never believed her age. I can’t interpret what anyone believes.

Not in these sting operations. They happen all the time. Thing is, if it wasn't a sting, he'd have solicited and had sex with a minor. Which makes him a pedo.

Just an observation but they had multiple stings in our area over the years and on each one the police set up a meeting at a hotel as a regular prostitution hookup through online adds. Then once the man arrives they mention that they are underage. This seems to always not result in conviction because they all say that they didn’t believe them and thought they were just saying that to seem less experienced, which I guess seems plausible as the agents are in fact always over 18 and often much older. Who knows what the hell any of them were actually thinking or looking for.

I want to make clear that I am not defending statutory rape. But maybe it’s best to reserve strong judgement until after the trial.

I’m for capital punishment too. But this is only a news article from where we’re sitting.

See my post. Not defending just presenting a defense. Not open and shut. He reasonably can say “ I did not believe her” and in fact he would be right as it was likely an undercover officer in her 20s. This seems to be common practice for police stings, adding the underage aspect just prior to arrest.

Had a friend who got busted for something very similar. Spent 5 years in jail. When he got out of jail, it was obviously very tough to find a job and housing since he was on the offender registry. He was doing pretty well, but then fell right back into bad patterns and habits. He's now facing 20+ years in federal prison. It's a horrible dark addiction. Lots of innocent victims. Sometimes those victims then grow up to be abusers because of doors opened up through their own trauma. We live in a very broken world.

No he actually solicited sex from someone he understood was underage, doubling down when he confirmed the age.

That’s criminal intent, brother.

Same deal if a Hamas sympathizer goes through with a transaction for a javelin missile system but no actual weapons exist to buy.

I'm sure you have links with that information about those stings.

The difference is in this one Graham assumed she was underage prior to getting to the hotel, meaning he deliberately meant to meet an underage person. Maybe he thought she was of age after meeting, but it doesn't change the reason he was there.

His intent was to have a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl! What part of your pathetic mind does not make that connection?!?! As someone posted before, does he actually have to have sex with the minor before you are satisfied? This was a sting to capture people involved in sexual exploitation of minors. The purpose of a sting in general is to capture a perp in the act of soliciting for or simulated commission of a crime. A sting for thieves would be to have someone set up a job and arrest the suspects when they attempt the robbery. A sting to catch a hit man would be to hire them for a job and arrest them when they show up to make the hit. A sting to catch prostitutes is to have a "john" contact them and then arrest them when the details of the "visit" are discussed. In none of cases was a "crime" commited. I CANNOT FATHOM WHY THIS ACTION OF REMOVING CHILD PREDATOR OFF THE STREETS IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU. THEY HAD PROBABLE CAUSE BUT NOT THE DETAILS OF WHO SPECIFICALLY WAS INVOLVED. I HAVE THREE DAUGHTERS AND SIX GRANDDAUGHTERS. I for one am happy that people with this type of sickness of the soul will not ever be able to harm any of them, even the ones that are adults. When they were sixteen, anyone hurting them in that way would not have needed a sting to remove them.

Some of you have way more experience with this than I do. I read it that they had met on an app and the fictitious age was disclosed after he showed up and they met in person.

TNBV seems to share my understanding of the situation, but if you’ve been through this before, I will defer to your experience in the matter.
