over/under on coaches being fired before they play Tennessee

Teams would be foolish to fire a HC right now. Who are these coaches that they are going to get for the money that they are paying that is better than what they have? Outside of Curt Cignetti and maybe Cristobal, who is overperforming right now? Sitake? Golesh? There are about to be massive vacancies and who is going to fill them all? If Norvell and Billy get the axe, there is going to be massive vacancies. I just don't see UK caring enough about football to pony up the Stoops buyout....but with 3 wins at season end, they may not have a choice.
That IU [Indiana] coach is about to make a truckload of green. Would you take the Florida or PSU job?

Just for clarification with the new one portal window ruling, there was also language in that ruling stating "When a coach is fired the transfer window for players leaving will start 5 days after a replacement coach is hired and will be limited to 15 days not 30"
UCLA & V Tech were grandfathered in before the ruling, however I am not sure if Penn State is and might be under this ruling.
Any coach fired from here on out those transfers would not be allowed to enter the portal until a permanent coach is hired.
This is a good thing, the old rule was pretty ridiculous.

With the team where it’s at, I don’t see him leaving if Indiana will pony up with the $$$$$$$. Think about it, you’ve built a top 5 team ready for the playoffs, why leave if the armored truck is offered.

Please he's thinking, "if I can do it @ IU, imagine what I could do with Florida's talent pool or PSU's pockets. They'll try. I hope for them he stays but I doubt it.

He's 65. He's said it before he's loyal. Also, Mark Cuban.

He isn't leaving an easy path to the playoffs for the gauntlet of the SEC.

Venebles could…What if SC rolls them? Probably not going to happen, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. I feel he’s gone by seasons end anyways.

Who knows. I would have told you that you were crazy if you told me psu would pull the trigger with that buyout. Stoops clearly has had one foot out the door for a minute now. Their AD makes Mike Hamilton look like the Nick Saban of athletic directors. Barnhart is so clueless and I love it.

The buyouts are nuts. Props to Arkansas AD for having a clause that cut buyout in half if coach was below 500. Suggestion to ADs…reduce buyout 10% for each loss in current season.

I agree with this. the guy is ollllld. his priority is comfort and stability, not money and the grind of building a whole new program.

he maybe has 5 years left to coach before he bows out.

After Saturday at the earliest. They play MSU then have bye week before cocktail party. If he makes it to UGA they might as well hang on to the end of the season.
Then they run the risk of him winning a few games & people saying “another year”. Florida needs to move on but if they want this scenario every year, fine with me.

Or he looks at it like his last chance to be the HC of a major football power and he thinks it's what he has deserved all these years.

Heather Dinich just wrote that Day, Deboer, and Elko are candidates for PSU.

Hope they take Elko or Deboer. Bet they take Day out of those 3 though. The 3 or 4 teams in the weak azz Big10 that actually recruit classes in the top 20 every year have basically a guaranteed playoff berth every year. They have to lose to the other 2 good teams on their schedules...only 2...AND an unranked team in order to not make the playoffs. Its ridiculous. Vandy would go 9-3 or better in that conference every year. Vandy.

He will not take PSU or Florida jobs and he will wait till the end of season. If he live the life in the B10 why move to the SEC. We are seeing coaches on a short leash why move to a tougher conference when you can get a decent raise and play a half soft schedule. The grind in the SEC is brutal. Why move from the top of the pack to the lower third of the pack with 9 challenging games.

maybe but I doubt a school like PSU that handed Franklin a 10 year contract would be interested in a guy that old. they probably want someone who can be around 15 or 20 years.

You may be right. I watched his interview last night when he left JMU. He said then he thought IU would be his last stop. Who knows, but that big contract won't heart.
