Glad to see Coop get the recognition, but she may not even be the best player on our team. Spearman looks great and then there is Barker and I hear Latham has hit another gear. So I hope Coop is awesome, but we have a lot more that could be awesome as well.
I’m not a season ticket holder but have been buying tournament tickets for about 30 years. I just get to renew my seats or upgrade now without worrying about losing my preferred seats. They are not available yet unless you have preferred status. We will be moving home in a few months from Atlanta, so I hope we can get decent season tickets for next year if I’m still alive and kicking. Almost forgot. Purchased them from the SEC ticket office. Are these available to non season ticket holders yet? If so, where did you purchase them?
She was almost totally a freshman last season cause sitting the bench at SC for a season didn't teach her a lot you have to play. I expect a much more mentally ready player this season. I am thinking she will be amazing in scoring and getting teammates involved.I think Coop's Quick Hands are first-team quality, but the occasional mental lapses kinda held her back a bit at times last season. Hopefully her brain caught up to her hands in the offseason. If so:![]()
I agree 100% that the first game will be an important test and show what this team can do. I am excited and ready to go. Look for great things from this year's team. GBO.Let's not put a lot of stock into pre-season rankings! Let the games and season get underway at least! But I do believe the 1st game will tell us a lot about this team.

I guess I'm most interested in seeing how far up the learning curve our new players have progressed from Nov. 4 to Nov. 30.Let's not put a lot of stock into pre-season rankings! Let the games and season get underway at least! But I do believe the 1st game will tell us a lot about this team.

Good post. I've wondered about that also. I don't have the answer but have always felt there must be a psychological element. Success breeds success? Failure breeds failure? Group (team) think, they are or are not going in today? On the other hand, there is also the scenario where one player gets hot and "carries the team". I dunno. It's a mystery. I do know, when the whole team is hot it's hoo boy, what a team, final four bound. When nobody on the team can throw it into the lake it's the worst shooting team we've ever had and we won't make the tournament. It's those swings of fortune within a single game or from game to game throughout the season that makes sports fandom such a maddening yet exhilarating experience. In other words, it will drive one freaking nuts.I've long been mystified why college basketball teams seem to have a bad shooting night all together. Odds would say that if your best one or two players have an off shooting night, another teammate should be shooting well that night. But it hardly ever happens that way! Bad shooting games seem to be team-wide for boys and girls.
But then again, on traditional teams, there are only 7-8 players who are playing significant minutes on a bad night. So I'm eager to see this season with this team--where hopefully the entire bench is playing--if that team-wide off-shooting phenomena holds true down to the 14th player.
(If we learn that cold shooting does hold true for the entire roster, look for a new thread entitled, "Voodoo Analytics - sponsored by Matsuta Knives and Tyson Chicken")
