Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

What the tweeter want 15 to do there? The RB cut back inside and ran 15 into a block.

That’s called setting up a block.

DL gets beat at point of attack and sometimes you get hit with a good play. Brought pressure from the other side and they ran away from it perfectly leaving that side of the field with less traffic.

Linebackers have been a recurring problem. Most often Teelander.

Defensive sets against Arkansas, particular the wide sets on 2nd down just helped to create wide open running lanes. I can only guess it was an attempt to keep Green in the box considering our issues with setting the edge. They out schemed us consistently Saturday.
Bobby Pitrino is a great offensive mind.

I think that changes soon. Going from BJM to Inge is a huge recruiting upgrade. Our freshman with a lot better than guys BJM recruited

Our secondary is facing a nightmare matchup this week. Our DL is facing a dream matchup. We should be able to generate pressure and stop the run without Jam Miller (assuming he misses) with 4-5 guys. I really like our chances if we can just play disciplined in the secondary and limit the big plays downfield (I have zero faith we are capable of this).
Be prepared for Bama OL to HOLD ALL GAME and not get called

This is how I feel

I don’t come into this game completely hopeless like the 2010s, but Tennessee’s defense needs to play at a level it hasn’t all year for us to win.

I keep thinking week to week the talent is there and perhaps it is a lack of experience, and with more experience we might see improvement over time.

Then the same troubles keep popping up.

So - who knows.

I think Tennessee can win, but I think it is much more likely we give up 40+ points and come out of there with like a 45-27 type loss.

I’ve been a huge VOL for a long time and amazes me how few people on here realize we lost to a Georgia State or Georgia Southern whatever that team was like three years ago be glad we’re relevant again
First off, it was Georgia state. And don’t get those two schools confused. Georgia Southern is the real GSU and the other school is horrid.

Second off, three years ago Heupel did not lose to Georgia state. We lost in 2019.

Third, I get what you are trying to say but timeline matters lol

Farooq and turrentine, West quite literally beat turrentine to the ball carrier while turrentine had a 20 yard lead on him, pathetic and embarrassing on turrentines part
Turrentine 100% not jogging? He’s trying to tackle someone running right at him

he actually took the right angle, just didn’t make the play

Uh no West didn’t beat Turrentine to the ball.

Turrentine is ushering the ball carrier to the sideline so he can’t cut back and take it to the house. The only thing Turrentine does wrong on this play is dive at ball carrier’s legs.

Farooq attempts to attack ball carrier but the cut ran him into a block. If he could stop on a dime, turn, sprint to ball carrier and make a tackle then he’d be Caleb Downs.

S play hasn’t been great. But this is a bad example. This is more on the DL for allowing a huge hole, which we saw a lot of vs ARK. But again, sometimes you get beat on a play call.

Still baffles me a bit that Ty Simpson is getting all the Heisman hype he is while Joey leads the SEC in passing yards.

Ty is a checkdown king that's why his % is so high and he has just 1 INT. Really hope our DL pressure exposes him this weekend.
Don’t worry, he will pick a part the zone coverage this weekend.
