Man, UNC screwed up so bad last year hiring Belichick. There weren’t many jobs open at all last year besides them and they went and hired a guy they’re going to fire at the end of the season. And this year there are a lot of jobs open and they’re going to be one of the worst. That program is going to be down bad for years.

I've seen Penn State play this year, and I've seen James Franklin-coached Penn State teams in the past. This roster is not comparable to many of those rosters.

It's expensive to retain players. It sounds to me he had to keep going back to the boosters begging for more money to keep the players he already had. He lost some good pieces last year too and did not adequately replace them with like talent. They had the 41st ranked portal class. That might be good enough if you consistently recruit in the top 10, but Penn State doesn't.

Also those Locked On podasts are always 100% aligned with whatever the University narrative is so they aren't always the best sources of information on stuff like this...or much of anything actually.

Yeah much of this roster passed on the draft to come back and compete for a natty, supposedly.

If we play mostly zone we will get utterly destroyed. We are last in the SEC in pass defense and zone is what we are absolutely the worst at. Yeah, let’s go play that game and see how it turns out.

Basketball is not healthy either. Think Roy Williams saw the writing on the wall? Duke has freaking private equity invested in buying basketball players. I'm not sure how much UNC is working with but it doesn't seem to be in the same ballpark as Duke. UNC is a BLUEBLOOD basketball program, and it looks like that might be their past and not their present/future in the new NIL/Portal environment.

It's a cute narrative, but I wonder how many of those players are earning more in NIL at Penn State than they were set to earn on rookie NFL contracts. It's not hard to do when you have revenue sharing + NIL. Most schools around the country also retained good players.

I guess it may’ve been a week ago. Possibly. But losing to Northwestern at home on Homecoming will speed things up real quick. Franklin was booed all day yesterday. There was no way he made it another week.
