I just don't get it. We win ugly, but we WIN. There is NO ONE in the SEC who is gonna lay down for anyone. Yet it doesn't seem to matter unless you grind their nose into the dirt. And at the end of the day, we did. Suppose we beat Bama by one in O.T.? Using their logic, it doesn't count for much. Hell, I'm proud of those young men. Arkansas, like Florida, has had our number for a good while, and they got that monkey off of their backs. On to Bama!

With NIL and the transfer portal, the top and bottom are not as spread as in the past. It makes for good football to watch, except for playing IIA teams like ETSU. Unless you’re playing Georgia or another SEC preferred team then you have to put up with the SEC (ref) bias.

The question is not how ugly the wins are but whether or not we keep winning. Thats the only thing that matters. Win out and we're in the playoff. 10-2 it really will be 50/50 this year.
There is definitely a scenario if we lose to Bama but win out to finish 10-2 that we get left out.,

Yes. If two 11-1 or 10-2 teams are in the SEC CG with 3 or 4 other 10-2 teams then they're not all getting in. I actually don't think it would be right to punish a team that lost the CG to finish 10-3 behind other 10-2 teams.

It didn’t help playing not to lose with score doubled (34-17) less than 5 min punting on their side of field, then scoring in less than 2 min.

Key stat of the game is 10 to 1. Sorry but Arkansas just didn't play that clean.

That said, the D simply isn't playing up to the talent level. I've never really bought into Banks. My doubts are increasing. I wish he would hurry and get that HC job all the talking heads say he's a candidate for.

It’s wild that a team with an interim head coach and an entirely new defensive staff that has never coached together can go out and play a near perfect game penalty wise

Like it or not, there is a subjective “eye test” in college football. Two teams with identical records against similar level of opponents aren’t necessarily equal. TN does not pass the eye test of a team that looks to finish in a playoff spot. That can change with a win at AL. Highly unlikely though if the team is truly what these eyes have seen in the 3 conference games.

The two ugly conference wins were against winless SEC teams in the lower fourth of the conference. With a porous defense Tennessee will get no respect from sportswriters or the college sports media as championship teams ordinarily have a solid defense that can create win games against the better teams in the conference. Heupel will have another chance to quiet the critics this week in Tuscaloosa, like Gainsville, a place he has not won, but give up 496 yards this week and Tennessee will be .500 in the conference, going nowhere fast with another problematic defensive team with pizz poor schemes and alignments.

Not saying I disagree m, but who will Heup bring in?

Most likely, he will promote w/in.

Depends on where in the season that 2nd loss comes from. We really should be ranked about 8th, but a crappy starting point really hurt us this year. If we lose to Bama, we can't lose again this year and hope like hell we get back in top 12. If we beat Bama and lose to UF, we likely won't find a top 12 finish.

Just my opinion

The current rankings mean jack diddly squat. They have no impact on the playoff. So this talk about where we “should” be ranked is nonsense. Winning controls our destiny.

About Banks:

I think he handicapped himself this offseason.
Aside from the soft defense when we get a lead- he’s called good games with the talent he has.

We’re not very upperclassman talented at DT. We’re damn sure not talented at safety.
Jakobe Thomas has 37 tackles and 4 INTs for #2 ranked Miami.
Christian Charles has 22 tackles for #17 ranked Virginia.

Why the hell aren’t those two guys still in Knoxville?? What was the thinking there?
Thomas and Turrentine should have been starters with Farooq and Charles rotating in.

This isn’t scheme this is Roster Management.

Same with DT We lost 4 guys and basically had to move Bailey to DT and get lucky Nate Robinson.?? What is the thinking there??

Our defense would be very much different with Thomas and Charles rotating in. I don’t get it. I don’t understand WHY they let that happen…

We won with Arkansas AND the stinkin refs against us. That is all I need to get. Nothing ugly about it. Twenty years from now? That is all we will remember. As Aaron Rodgers once said, "R-E-L-A-X"

When it happens doesn't matter as much as how and how the team looks. We are getting worse on defense and we are barely beating teams at the bottom of the conference. Thats why we aren't moving up when we win. Again, if you win out you're in the playoff. Go 10-2, and you have to hope there arent 5 SEC teams sitting there at 10-2 or better at the end of the year because they aren't taking all of them, and it's going to come down to body of work at that point.
