Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I think fans seriously miss the fact that this is obviously the way the league wants the games officiated. If they didn't, there would be accountability just like any other profession.

You're basically calling for them to investigate themselves. We know how that usually works out.

Ultimately Banks is in charge of personnel. Fact we dont have the jimmies ar this point, is directly his responsibility. You cant live off the dollar bin at any position.
Losing Thomas to Miami through the porthole hurt plus Harrison could play safety he bolted to Cincinnati...

What if he’s not given the budget to compete for elite safeties? It’s not so black and white. Too much money involved to think it is.
I've been pointing this out for a long time. We let a safety walk in the portal because he was asking for more than we've budgeted to spend on safeties. It's a conscious decision. We also don't typically go after the 5-star CBs either because we have great DB coaches who can coach guys up. Anyone want to make the argument Jermod McCoy doesn't have a better career than dozens of guys who were ranked higher than him coming out of HS? We are willing to pay to keep top corners but we spend far less on safety. And we can always address any holes in the portal. It's not about not having the money to spend on safeties, it's about prioritizing positions the coaches place a higher priority on. We may not have the best safety room in the SEC, but how many teams have a better DL/Edge/Lb room?

I think Jowell Combay is as important to this class as Tristan and Faizon.

If you're Arkansas and 90% of the other teams in the SEC have bigger budgets than you to buy players, what adjustments do you make? I hear this all the time so I'm not picking on you but this whole narrative that schools and coaches have been "slow to embrace NIL" is just a copout for not having as much money as the teams you are competing against.
I think it’s both. Some schools are still figuring it out and some don’t have the funds. I am just glad we have funds and we are fine NIL wise.
