Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I can't tell you how good a guy he is. We grew up in the same circles, he was younger than me, I knew his older brother best. And his sister has a daughter with the older brother of a guy I grew up with. He's as down to earth as anyone given the fame and fortune he was. I know if at least two families facing life changing cancer diagnosis he's personally picked up the tab for. No publicity, just saw the need and paid it.
Dude is an amazing guy, do know him personally and even though he made dumb decisions for a good while he has a heart of gold! He really didn’t grow up a fan of athletics so didn’t have any allegiance to any team. But he’s hugely popular, he’s a great guy and famous. All of that can help UT.

I've heard some mention of this. What did Kirby do/say?
He ran down the sideline calling a timeout clear as day, then lied and said he was clapping.

Next week a UGA player will advance a punt after a fair catch signal and then say they were just waving to their mom in the stands.

I hate to break it to you, but we aren’t going 10-2. This team will lose 2, maybe 3, more games. Nothing we’ve put in the field the last two games shows me we are a playoff team.

I read that ESPN article and she’s 100% correct: we have no signature wins and we haven’t proven we can put a FBS team away like we should be.
Tell that to coach Heupel! Maybe he’ll quit going into stall mode when we get ahead

I believe it's pretty obvious that last year's DLine covered for a lot of Banks' back 7 deficiencies.
I really think we need to reserve judgement on LB coach for another year. Fact he's even open to playing Jaedon shows he knows what's up. Unlike a certain safeties coach who, insists on slamming square peg into round hole. Bank's inability to find a ball hawker in fifth year, is def more than concerning. Really hope this crop coming in will help.

There is no doubt though, this squad is young.

People will see this and still defend banks, even after today. Banks is an absolute clown and needs to git

So the Basilio post-game crew brought up an interesting point. Would you be for firing Banks if it cost you Rodney Garner? In other words, the new guy doesn't retain him or he chooses to retire. I'm on the fence myself.

I like Inge. He needs to get some hosses in and up to speed though. I believe he would be a candidate for DC if Banks left.

You won't convince me having McCoy and Hood on the field at the same time wouldn't help this non-sense.

He would be a huge help. But it doesn’t change us playing the sticks and letting them get easy catches at the first down marker. Maybe try a blitz and get the ball out quick so they can’t throw it to the line. I think it’s more in the soft zone and not playing the zone correctly.

Well we as fans have A LOT to go on to know 🙄
Well I do KNOW that Ben Bolton and Jordan Burns has given us nothing yet that are getting snaps. I also know that Telander cant run sideline to sideline and is a liability in obvious passing situations.

We have nothing to lose to play the young more athletic LBers.

He may be gone either way. He hasn’t signed his extension. We have Marion hobby as an analyst. He is a fantastic defensive line coach too.

Penn State isn’t firing Franklin unless Franklin leaves in his own accord.
Auburn isn’t firing Freeze.
I think UF and FSU keep their coaches for one more year. Although if you asked me, I think FSU is more likely than Florida to fire first.
A team can bring in a lot of players via NIL with the money it takes to buy out these coaches. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The most surprising thing yesterday is we didn't score more points. Especially with a +3 TO advantage. Expected 45-60 pts on such an awful defense.

Missed a few long shots. Didn't go for some clear "go" 4th downs (or maybe just 1, need to rewatch). OL penalties from the past coming back to haunt us. Throwing short of the sticks. Run game was sort of all over the place.

Just another weird game, which is becoming the norm.

Not going to complain over an SEC loss, but the way ND handled Arky's defense on the road, I expected more inside of Neyland. Oh and REFS. They killed us too. Some of the worst officiating I can remember, and I speak my opinion, whether pro or not in UT's favor. I just call it as I see it and this was awful and in Arky's favor.

as much as banks is struggling, i think we need too pump the brakes on firing.

we had a good defense last year, and we are incredibly young. i mean if he takes a HC job, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We're unlucky to not be 6-0.
Both views are reasonable. Close to 6-0. Not that far from 3-3 either.

Probabilistically, we're a 4.7-1.3 team. 5-1 is very fitting.

What's more important is the backhalf. We need to repeat 5-1 while playing 3 ranked teams, 1 on the road. Plus UF on the road.

Much much tougher task than the first half of the season, but doable. Have to progress and get healthier each week. Will take breaking one of our multi-decade streaks (winning at Bama or winning at UF) and I'm here for it.
