Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Upon reflection injuries are holding us back, youth at times is too, but we have to be more consistent and above all more complimentary. We get turnovers, but do nothing with them. We pull ahead and then give up easy scores. Or we miss a kick or muff a return.

Good teams can do great things, but great teams do them consistently. We are not a great team yet.

We could beat Bama by 3 and we could also lose by 3 scores. I don’t think we are healthy enough to do anything other than squeak out a nail biter.

Just win. We might, but the current spread makes sense. IMO JMO.
Think that's been consistent in media and rankings.

I am hoping the scrutiny this week makes it slightly less ridiculous for us at Bama, but I don't have a lot of hope.

If the widespread scrutiny DURING the game wasn’t enough for them to curb their cheating efforts I don’t think mid week scrutiny will do much more

Corruption in this country has become so ubiquitous it’s basically our national export so personally I think nothing is going to be done about it

****ing sad and infuriating

What injuries? DL has everyone. LB has everyone. Only missing CBs and CBs are playing well. Not being rude but genuinely wondering what injuries

Especially when the coaches are teaching it. See Kirby last night and Petrino just about any time you look.

Kirby revealed himself to be a liar and a cheat last night. It was a bad look for the refs/the SEC and a worse look for him. Dude has zero integrity. Just win at all costs. Makes you wonder what else is going on behind the scenes in Athens if he’s comfortable blatantly lying on national TV in front of millions of viewers.

I don’t know enough about football to know who’s to blame but not spying the best running QB in football probably deserves some criticism. And that soft zone on 3rd and long… he beat it. Every. Single. Time.
I hardly have a voice screaming at banks to get out of the soft zone where DB’s wouldn’t react in time to make a play on the ball because they just stayed still and watched the ball coming toward the receiver. Once he caught it, we tackled him but just easy pitch and catch. And that was even early in the game.

I am old of enough to remember the late Battle years, early Major years and the years between Fulmer and Heupel when we were getting our butts kicked many Saturdays. So I am going to enjoy winning. The last few years have been exciting because I never go into a game thinking we can’t win.
I am glad I am not as negative as some on this board. I am not criticizing because I know you can’t help it, it is just the way you are made. But games and seasons have ebbs and flow. No team is perfect, but we just beat one of the best offenses in the country and we control our own destiny. We may not win every game, but we are sure not a doormat anymore. These are the strongest overall SEC teams I can remember in any season. Every game is a struggle and fight. I know we have a team that will fight and will not quit. As fans let’s do the same.

And doubles down on it after the game. Those type of people think everyone is too stupid to see what happened.

McCoy is a huge one. They picked again on Redmond last night. We definately win UGA if they aren't picking on Redmond. JMO

The D line interior has been hamstrung and while the guys where back you could tell their game stamina wasn't fully there.

Sanders has not been able to play until now. Our line is not as elite as it could be if he had. We have 0 depth at WR due to injuries and while the guys are elite we are a rolled ankle away from playing 12 personnel out of necessity.

As for youth Kitselman has played way too much because Davis is underwhelming and the young guys are like Redmond - good but not ready ready.

100% agree

Indiana should be #1. Change my mind.
They would lose to OSU, Miami, bama, UGA, Tennessee, maybe ole miss and vandy

I think the big10 is down this year and the SEC is way stronger then anticipated

I also think IU playing Oregon at noon was a factor
Noon games for home teams seem to be weird
IU is good but I just don’t see them
Being top dog
Oregon was a good win though

Each week is a complete shitshow so far
Ton of upsets

Damn near any top team can lose.

I don't really understand why coaches don't do more to protest awful calls during a game.

Like, it was very obvious Kirby called a timeout and it could be plainly seen on the jumbotron during the game.

What if Hugh Freeze had just.... refused to leave the field of play until they took a UGA timeout or charged them with a Delay of Game....

Either he wins the standoff with an entire stadium behind him or they hit him with a couple of sideline warnings and flags and he wins the court of public opinion and EVERYONE will be talking about the corruption.

I barely remember the Ainge years. I was at the Wyoming game that got Fulmer fired... my first game.

So basically my entire Vol Fandom is Kiffin, Dooley, was a student during Butch, Pruitt, and now Heupel....

I'll take this every year for the rest of my life over the embarrassment and punishment of Kiffin -> Pruitt.

Yup. IU would lose something like 31-16 to OSU but it wouldn’t be as close as the scores seems. They’d be outclassed all over the field.

Not surprised but Heather Dinich currently has us ranked 12th and being knocked out by the de facto 5th highest ranked conference champion (which would be ranked outside the T12). We would have to win out and I do not see us doing that. Bama, OU, Florida and Vandy are at the very least going to be all nail biters.

I think we miss the playoffs this year due to the Defense. Don’t know why so many here think Banks is elite. I’ll be glad when he finally takes a HC gig and hope he takes Martinez with him.
As I’ve said, we did this last year. 10-2 in the SEC gets you in. I don’t care what media people think. It will work itself out.

SEC officials should be required to do post game press conferences like coaches and players are required to do. They need to be held accountable and give explanations for certain calls/decisions they made. Why calls were made/not made or what they saw on certain plays. Instead they get to weasel off the field and disappear into the night. Things might change if they are put in the hot seat and have to defend their actions.

we had 5 sacks, 9 tfl, 3 FR. They had 0 sacks, 2 tfl, 0 turnovers.

We should have beat them by 2-3 scores but each time we had momentum we got hit with the most bizarre momentum-killer penalties of all time. Every single time they had a big play their tackles were putting hands in our faces, holding, etc. GO WATCH THE REPLAY. we outplayed them when it mattered and then when it especially mattered the zebras took over. if you want to complain about our coaching or players as problem #1 you honestly should maybe pick another hobby b/c you're unfortunately too stupid for this one

it's insanity we have to put up with this week after week-- pull their bank records. pull every friend and family member's bank records. something is afoul

not surprised the rise of online sports betting and refs pulling this **** week after week seems to have come at the same time
