The heat needs to be put on the athletic department

Enlighten me genius…on second thought…don’t bother…

Whether it’s directly through the university or a third party vendor the fact is that the tickets sell out…as long as that is the case there will be no motivation to change the prices…the mechanisms and nuances of ticket sales are irrelevant

The only motivation on ticket prices when the venue continues to sell out? Raise them because supply is less than demand.

you don't get it. it's not "3rd party vendors". it's your neighbors, the people you work with, anyone who is a season ticket holder. THESE ARE RESOLD TICKETS. there's no university or 3rd party vendor to blame. ITS VOLS FANS that resell their tickets for these high prices. good lord 🙄
Oh I get it perfectly. It’s you that doesn’t understand the way this works. It is supply and demand. If the demand wasn’t there, they couldn’t sell them for the highest dollar possible. Yes, Vol fans AND the university sell them for the highest dollar possible because they can. Some folks fund their season tickets by reselling the tickets for a couple of games. Got friends who do that now.

Sorry but they aren’t going to take the average fan’s wallet into account and that includes mine. It’s among the reasons why I’ve pretty much stopped going to games. The cost is the weekend is prohibitive on a retirement budget. But it’s just business and I understand that.

You don’t “need“ a room, you want a room. I drive as far (south of ATL). For late games, not this one (we just drove back), I’ll drive an hour back. Usually Athens or Cleveland and get a room and it’s not crazy.
Well, of course we want a room. I never said we need one in the sense of “have to”. Nor did I say I was unhappy to pay. I was commenting on the crowd being subdued/not subdued and wanted to add context to how we notice it from year to year. We pick the game/s we go to and make a mini ‘do of it. Good grief. Maybe I’m misunderstanding your quote and you weren’t being judgy. I don’t like to fight on this thing. That’s why I rarely post. Apologies if I misunderstood.

I live in Franklin and I've driven all the way home after late games in Knoxville plenty of times.

just stop at Buc-ees and get some caffeine 😂 😂
😂 Amen! We’ve done that, too, but decided to hotel it after one ill-fated late very late night trip home when we accidentally took the I-75 split and were about 20 minutes down the line with the kids before my husband and I were like, ummm…why are we seeing signs for Cleveland? Never again! 😂 If game time is anything 4:30 or before EST, we’ll drive back. We’ve just been picking games lately that wind up being scheduled later. I know….we’re soft. 😜

It’s all good. I’m not being judgy. Just pointing out a possible solution

There's a reason I don't stay in Knoxville lol

You went farther than 20 miles if you were seeing Cleveland signs!🤣

Been there and done that

Paid close to 550 for NN seats and the stadium was dead quiet throughout most of the game. I was absolutely disappointed. I was disappointed in the cost as well as environment outside the band and fireworks

The AD is coming to the end of what I think was a 10 year agreement to sell a large block of tickets to resellers. It was when demand was low and we could not sell out. So, they are to blame somewhat at this point.

Always easy to speak the truth too. The home games are falling short of the Neyland stadium standard.

Yes. The absence of morality leaves “economics”.
Huh? What does an optional entertainment expense have to do with morality?

Name a time in your life some segment of fans weren't priced out of a game

I've been to a few games this year, so it's actually easier to analyze when you're sitting in the middle of it.

Always easy to criticize first-hand experience from a keyboard though ain't it?
Somewhere there is a vacant motel room along a two lane highway. Whatever you two want to do there? The rest of us don't need to know.

The Neyland effect is not much of a effect anymore. I was there yesterday and the crowd noise wasn't good. It's been that way for the last 5 years.

I don't live as far away as you do - live south towards Chattanooga - but the only times we have booked a hotel was for the night before. And that was because we were attending a high school playoff game in that area the Friday night before and the game the next day was a noon game. We would have gotten home from the high school game after midnight only to turn around and get up really early to drive back. Made no sense. Had the Tennessee game been a night game, we would have driven home and back.
