Another Government Shutdown Thread

lol. Why? You really think the airlines calling the shots is smart? (it isnt). Not a single country, privatized or not, has a better or safer airspace system than the USA. That's a fact. Privatization works in small doses or in countries where they have f##k all air traffic (Canada). What else should we privatize? Lets do the military next! Privatization doesn't remove the tax payer burden. There is so much about how government works that a lot of yall just don't understand or can't comprehended.
What is the reason for tower/airspace employees to be government employees versus private company employees? Supervisors and inspectors, yes, but the average workerbee? nah? And I never said anything about the airlines running anything. GWB made a HUGE mistake in bringing the TSA onboard the government. SFO has private TSA and it works fine. I guess my problem is that I see the bloated inefficiency of having all the workers being .gov. After 9-11, when TSA became a federal operation, the airport had to build another parking lot in MCO to service all the additional TSA screeners. And I realize it doesn't relieve taxpayer burden. But I guarandamntee you that it will cost less. Personally I don't think TSA costs should be included in your ticket price. You should swipe a credit card when you arrive at the magnetometer. IOW, the airlines should have ZERO connection to security.

IMO, every member of Congress paycheck should be on hold like the remainder of the govt until they reach an agreement.

Hahaha.

Bruh do actually believe that most politicians give a dang about a measly $174k a year?

You actually believe politicians get rich off their salaries?

If you never want to see another shutdown then there should be a mandate that stops the collection of all federal taxes during a government shutdown.

^^^^^That right there. Yes sir!

Impartiality. Not to be beholden to a private entity/airlines/defense contractors/politician. Privatize ATC plans ALL have airlines on the BOD. Then the corruption really can get ramped up. My hot take is then the airlines start dictating how the air traffic moves. Right now they can voice their concerns (I hear it all the time) but we (FAA worker bees) don't adjust our work to placate airline desires. The guy previously in my position did that, and now he gone and I'm here.

TSA doesn't need to be government. I concur. Its not run by the FAA though so I don't care.

Edit - After re-reading what you said I actually am warming up to it. Worker bees = private. Federal oversight (management) stays Fed. I'd be fine with that actually. That takes care of the issues I brought up above. The challenge would lie in ensuring the Federal oversight remains impartial. Not an issue with me but I've seen a lot of "federal oversight" taking the knee for their contractors because they need/want that post retirement contractor gig. My position has a few bans in place to prevent this but they could be made more strict. 2 year post SES (or just Fed oversight position) ban from communicating with former agency would probably help.

This idiot TDS moron sufferer is drooling to get in power to go after Trump.
He bitches and gripes/cries daily about accusing Trump of weaponizing the government to go after his political enemies is because they started it first.
Hakeem Jefferies is a low IQ dirt bag who cares nothing about America.

Neither side should be holding up a compromise or resolution based on politics, but that is the reality of what is going on. And so far, both are being blamed by the voters, Trump and the GOP a slight bit more.

But when the ACA premiums spike, in both red and blue states?

Apparently, Duffy says he’s just going to fire the ATC’s that call in sick.

Jeffries needs to stay off TV.
He is right though. If the dims were in charge they'd "nuke the filibuster" and move on. The Republicans not doing it is just them hsbing a child like tantrum. They think this will paint the dims in an even worse light then they already are but it's going to backfire and go to sh!t. Its people making checkers moves in a game of chess.

They enjoy the game. No skin off their noses. They get paid by law.

I do find it interesting that the dems are daring them to nuke it. Strictly for fund raising purposes and a big fat look what they did narrative.

Neither side really is scared of the consequences of shutdowns.

Dems are reading the tea leaves and need a boost for the midterms. This is not it imo.
