Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Interesting from Greg Olsen talking about Dallas that I think applies to Vols squad.

Paraphrasing but was talking about when Dallas was leading the league in O and also now that they’re scoring 30+ per game, he believes you need to build your D to mirror your O. So who gives a sh*t (his words) if you give up 200+ rush ypg, you need pass rushers and outside skill guys (Vols have but have been hampered by injuries on the outside) bc you can run all day long but you’re not gonna have enough possessions + firepower to beat us.

Last year we weren’t built for that. We slowed the tempo more than we ever have. We had the worst sack #s we’ve had as a Banks D. But we stopped the rush and held teams down to stop them from scoring and limit possessions.

This year, the opposite (again if healthy I think you’d see it be more effective).

Just thought it was interesting listening to a football guy talk strategy like that.

Guy mowing yard in mid day, with chicken following him. Pajama pants, tennis shoes, shirt optional.

All that said, it really is a beautiful place. Its a shame what's happened to those towns. The aholes pushing pills should be locked up.

Messed up an entire generation of people in the south. . . they're doing it again with something called 7OH. Gas station heroin.

I agree and think our defensive approach changes intentionally when we have a strong offense. I’m not an expert in football schematics and strategy, but from a statistical standpoint, there’s definitely a correlation between last year’s offensive efficiency combined with defensive strategy, vs the way our offense/defense is playing this year. If you look closely at MSU’s scoring drives, many came from short fields that resulted from our own mistakes rather than sustained offensive execution, and our offense kept failing to step on their throats and get enough of a lead due to more errors. Every game seems to include one well-executed drive where the opponent strings everything together, but overall, even when teams run effectively against us, we still manage to get key stops. It really feels like the defensive philosophy is built around applying relentless pressure on the quarterback, forcing turnovers, and relying on our offense to keep opponents under constant pressure by playing with a lead.

I also agree that injuries have somewhat reduced the effectiveness of our strategy but that's part of the game. I think getting Hobbs back as well as getting the DT posision overall more healthly will help with the run defense a little, but overall the strategy stays the same IMO.

Good post and interesting topic.

Charleston WV seems like a city that was forgotten. I dont know the total number of homeless. Its very sad.

It wouldnt surprise me in next ten years to see population drop below 20 or 30 thousand.

Its at 44 now.

There are all kinds of legal fat shredding supplements at GNC. There was one I tried back in the day, Agent Orange or some ****. Dude at gym swore by it. Never did anything more for me than walking 5-10 minutes and stretching did. Or drinking coffee beforehand

Tried creatine also. Just wasted money.

Grilled chicken, and red meat. And whey protein:

There may be something newer like a Possum excrement gland, or Temu can recommend something.

Creatine is bonafide.

I've been taking it daily for a month to try to get my old taste and smell back that covid wrecked 5 years ago. Supposedly it can help rebuild the nerves (I'll try anything to enjoy peanut butter again).

I haven't noticed too much of a difference in my workouts or muscle size yet. Maybe a little more energy and stamina for lifting weights.

Your doing weed now? Not what I expected from @Glitch

UNC and Belacheat thing is weird. Are they seriously not even going to give this at least one full season? Maybe they’ll flash and have some good memories
Belichick has always been a lousy coach. The only reason he had success at New England was because he had really good people around him. He fooled himself into thinking it was him.
