Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I actually think the guys that have played have held their own. The fact we have true freshman playing corner and not getting lit up every week is amazing... He's had some struggles, sure, but he's had to of exceeded expectations up to this point.
Yeah I mean they're clearly very talented players, but the young guys on the d line obviously need some time in the weight room. Those long drives where they're breaking off runs of 10-15 yards are going to go away when our more experienced tackles are back in the regular rotation. Glad the young guys got experience though

True. But typically, opinion is usually one's thoughts on a set of facts.

An excuse, by definition, is assigning a false cause for a poor result, to deflect blame.

A reason is a factual explanation that provides context without deflecting responsibility.

There's no deflection regarding those injuries is what I'm getting at. It is what it is.

And I think based on that, we've probably gotten from the defense what could reasonably be expected.... Better at pass rush (still elite there) than run d. Pretty good, not great, coverage on the back end.

Run d and coverage should both improve as we get health..ier.
If it does then I will be man enough to eat crow BUT if it doesn't are you?

Nope!

AND my point is every team has injuries, not just Tennessee...

We will just have to disagree.
Right. But the quantity and quality of injuries differ greatly. Losing a starting QB is hardly the same as losing a 3rd string interior lineman. We lost over 1/3 of our starting defense, and unsurprisingly we haven't been as good without them. That isn't an excuse, it's direct quantifiable cause and effect.

From what I've seen, the buyout talks were initiated by Belichick.

"Hey, I don't actually care about turning this around, so how much do you want to pay me to leave?". UNC got scammed. Simple as that. And their AD should be barred from attending or watching any sports at any level forever.
The AD didn't want to hire him, some big money boosters forced it through
