The administrative bloat is ridiculous. But let's be honest, some of that bloat is to navigate the medicare and medicaid rules and regs for pt care.

Yep. The government involvement creates the need for much of the nonsense.

For example I have to bill the insurance of a smoker once a year to say I told them not to smoke.

This is some of the “preventative care” we are forced to do through Obamacare otherwise we lose money from Medicaid.

So the government forces us to do more things, that we then have to charge the government for, otherwise the government will decrease our reimbursement.

Both parties have pushed away from the center. I believe centrists still exist in big numbers, but are left behind by both parties. Reasonable people know moderation is best, but the base of each party is tribalistic and absolutist. Successful governance requires compromise, though.

Healthcare in our country, like education, is great by some metrics yet doesn't always appear so when viewed through certain other metrics.

Regardless of the method, approximating the consumer (patient) with the product (insurance and health care) is the best long term solution to drive costs down which makes care more affordable for everyone.

Look at the Blue Zones in Costa Rica where they have the highest lifespans. They are generally more rural, disconnected areas. If you know anything about Costa Rican healthcare, you know that the farther you get from cities, the less accessible healthcare is. So, what's the deal?

It's generally agreed that it's because of diet and lifestyle.
