Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Well if he is limiting explosive plays, he has been horrid at it this year so far. Biggest issue with banks is getting his dang defense off the field on long third downs and not letting a team convert fourth down. If he did that, we would be a top 25 defense right now before getting healthier. I don’t think he is ever going to change his soft zone on third and long though. He hasn’t in years. It worked with McCoy and Gibson, but it isn’t with Redmond and he needs to adjust. IMO
I actually thought banks was overly aggressive in the Georgia game. A lot of georgias success it felt like we blitzed and either didn’t get home or they threw a quick out with our corners outmanned without linebacker/safety help.

Genuine question about the bolded above. What makes you think that? The average return time for the NFL is 13.6 months for RB and WR and 11.6 months for all positions (I reference RB and WR because it more similar to the physical demands of CB than say a lineman); if he were to return right now at 8.5 months, that would mean he recoved 37% faster than the average NFL WR or RB. I agree it's possible and has been done before (I would consider it more of an edge case statistically), but it's definitely not the standard. I just don't understand where this idea that because he is an elite athlete with elite rehab facilities, its a given that he should return already.

We have to stop saying these unrealistic ideas that someone should automatically return to playing after 8.5 months of recovery. If he does, that wouuld be amazing and impressive, but stop bashing the guy for not being back yet.
It's been 10 months. He got surgery early January and the talk was whether or not he could play by UGA for most of the offseason. Then they started saying Arkansas or Alabama about a month ago, along with the rumors of ppl in his corner not wanting him to play.

Am I the only one expecting this kid to be Durant like?
I don't expect him to be Durant. In my experience it's rarely beneficial to compare players to each other because everyone is so unique. He's got a ton of potential and a ceiling so high it's barely visible. I think he will be really good for us, but I also think we have a lot of really good pieces.

Let’s see this defense with some DL depth in the interior now. And hopefully mostly Carter and Spillman at linebacker.

As much as I want McCoy back, Hobbs back will be just as impactful. Another fresh body on the line and other guys playing out of position will help shore up the running game and allow our pass rushers to focus on the edge.

He did in early downs. And even still should have likely blitzed more. I think he blitzed around 33% of the time. But typically teams that play rivals blitz around 45 - 50% and more than their average. That’s not from me, I am relaying what a film study guy broke down from the game.

Unleash the DL! We should be three deep now everywhere.

The first report of the injury was Jan. 15, so at the maximum it has been almost nine months since his injury and surgery.

Is math really that hard?

Now question, do you really want to eat into Tyre West snaps? I say continue to use Bailey like we have, at both spots.
