The only scenario I could see at this point for a 3 loss SEC team to get in is if Bama loses two conference games but makes the SECCG and wins it.

The highest 7 ranked non-automatic qualifiers make it in. Keep that in mind. The record is important, but only as a differentiator...

I mean if half the conference plays, the ones who don't are really bad then.

I wouldn’t call a 3 point win “soundly”. If UGA kicks the FG they go into OT. Alabama was ranked where they were because of the win against UGA, its their best win, but still a 3 point win.
