No statue for Fulmer at Championship corner

Then Saban and Smart are terrible coaches who never had control. So the greatest coach ever was woody Woofenhoffer. Never had an issue with his players. I got ya. Well Clark Lea maybe your man then.
I thought that maybe on a Tennessee forum, we could at least appreciate our current coach. Build a statue of Fulmer in your own yard, if you want to worship a trophy.

Man the off week brings out some of the weirdest freaking thread conversations, I swear.
We literally have 25% of our fanbase with the lowest IQ takes in history....if it's not some Gen Z/Millennial type that's never experienced the true UT program but has dumb views on everything, it's a cavemen redneck from some small yahoo town who spits tobacco as he types out drivel

You don’t know the whole story. You better be glad Fulmer made it known to the right people that he wanted the job or you could kiss the rest of the 90s away! Let’s be honest, Johnny didn’t give us much. Great man, great leader but he was done.
Majors gave us 3 SEC titles and 2 more runner ups...Majors AND Fulmer both led to Majors getting fired.

If Phil gets one, then where are you putting the Vitello statue? He's done more for the baseball program than Phil did for the football program.
There's a reason the football stadium holds 102k and the baseball stadium holds 6200.

If not for Fulmer, our last National Championship would've been when my Grandmother was 20 yrs old.

Tell that to all the victims of his football players. Fulmer started losing because he didn’t discipline his team. Not because he forgot how to coach or recruit.

My 10 year old self got to learn what rape was thanks to Nilo Sylvan being in the news.
You'd have more credence if you knew how to spell Silvan's name correctly.

Whether or not he was even guilty has always been in question. And even if he was guilty, the following things are also true:

1. Phil Fulmer had nothing to do with Silvan's conduct off the field and outside of the program. Nilo Silvan was an adult who made his own decisions.
2. Even after the charges were dropped, Fulmer did not reinstate him to the team. He'd apparently been in trouble before and it had been dealt with internally, and the rape charge was the last straw.

The only issue I had with Fulmer at all during that incident, was trying to meet with his lawyer and the girl at a local restaurant, to get her to drop the charges

Big no-no and if it had occurred 10 years later, would've been a huge lawsuit and firing for the University

Name the coach with a winning program that has been composed of nothing but Saints over the course of their careers?

Saban had players mug another student on campus for crying out loud.

Everyone wants their team’s roster to be full of nice law abiding, god fearing young men, but the reality is there are 85 boys who’s frontal lobes aren’t quite developed (and then they knock them around playing a physical sport in which aggression is part of the game). Every program is gonna have a few incidences of law breakers.

Fulmer usually dismissed players pretty quickly for serious offenses.
Yup, a close Alabama friend and business partner of mine mentioned a story that Saban told Bama fans at a gathering when first hired... to compete for titles at the highest levels, 25% of your roster are going to persons you hope you daughter or son never bring home for holidays. That just the reality of what it takes!

I appreciate his (Nick's) honesty in saying that if so. I know that's been confirmed by my friend’s son at many other schools they've played ball at.... Mother to son: are you making any new friends on the team? Son to mom: mom, you dont want me being friends with some of these guys!

Here ya go.

When your level of competition is Ray Goff, Brad Scott, Rod Dowhower, Gerry DiNardo, etc.

It’s easy to be successful against this group. He was a great recruiter of talent and managed to surround himself with a great staff and top talent for about 6 years.

Once the leagues other programs upgraded their staff and talent levels, his weaknesses were exposed quickly.
