Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

Bama is a team I’m really curious about. They had more turnover than anyone last season. Went from a veteran heavy team to a really young team. Weathers and Cody are their only returning contributors from what I see.

I won’t be a bit surprised is she transfers after this season.
USC has landed 3 number 1 players in a row and are in on their 4th number 1 with Kaleena Smith considering them. With Juju's injury and taking off the year, that would put her with Kaleena Smith, Saniyah Hall and Jasmine Davidson for 2 consecutive years which would be intriguing to any player wanting to win a national championship. Talk about a loaded back court. If they add a couple of quality posts, they are going to be a tough team to beat for the next couple of years.

I was hoping we had the edge with Kaleena since she was signed by Candace and is a feature player for Adidas and were their feature school soon.

She has to keep all those players. Jazzy might be playing at UT in 2026 lol.

Her retention was awful last season. Recruited a terrific class and then ran them all off. They have all been talking as well. Heckel just gave an interview where she basically said how great it was to have an actual coach and be held accountable and improve.

I get a kick out of reading recruiting posts because sometimes you gain a different perspective while other times you realize how certain thought processes are out of touch.
Just because players are ranked a certain way in HS doesn’t translate to college.
I highly doubt that Coach Caldwell focus is to recruit players year after year that bring the exact same skills and attributes as the 8 McDonald’s All-Americans, 8 Top 20 players, 5 Top 10 players, and 14 Top 70 players that are on campus or committed to Tennessee.
Now as it should be, the focus is on wing and post players. All the so call wants from the portal or positions already filled there’s film to show that CKC & Lazo signed those type of players already and have plenty of depth in those positions. You can always build more depth but don’t waste resources or time.
Glad to hear CKC interview with Mike Keith where she spoke on her recruiting strategy.
GBO🍊.

Tennessee is loaded for the next few years. The problem becomes keeping everyone on board from season to season. It could fall apart in short time. It has happened to many classes that were topped ranked. If you guys can keep them all aboard you will absolutely play for a title.

Save that energy for a program with those problems. Thanks lmao.

Yall are the team losing star players 😘

Were still probably a year away from the final four. It could happen this coming season, but were depending a lot of playing time on freshmen. They could grow quickly as were playing the top schedule in the country. As far a losing players it would have to be for playing time cause the NIL program we have developed is second to none.

Tennessee was a quarter away from playing in the Elite 8 in year 1 so saying the team is a year from playing in the Final Four doesn’t make sense.
Tennessee and Texas were tied going into the 4th qtr of the Sweet 16 game.
Early on getting the freshmen experience is key, the returnees are a strong core to build around with the portal class this is a Final 4 team right now.

Gottlieb is a live and let live coach. Bring in the talent, say some inspiring speeches from time to time and have zero answers when things fall apart.

I will say though that even without Juju they gave UConn it's toughest match in the tourney last season because they do play their butts off on defense but that may have more to do with their Associate HC Beth Burns. She did incredible things with San Diego State. Lindsey does have a talented staff but you still need a head coach that players buy in to.

I already called it, and now here we are.

We lost Fulwiley, a bench player and gained the NCAA leading scorer because of that. I'll take that trade all day, every day. Geez...
We will wait and see how the Leading NCAA scorer adapts to Carolina making her force the ball inside and do things she is not used to. She will not have the freedom she had at Florida State, will have to think before she shoots because we know Dawn wants to get posts involved primarily on every possession but also wants everyone else involved and Latson did not do that at FSU. Something as simple as that will change how she plays and reacts in game. Turnovers were what often times got Fulwiley benched and Latson averaged 3.1per game in comparison to Fulwileys 1.9 last year. Fulwiley is head and shoulders a better all round player than Latson athletically and overall with her skillset.

I don't know if I would think that is a great trade as Fulwiley clearly a talented player and shoots close to the same percentage from the field. Fans get hung up on volume shooters because they present an awesome scoring percentage and do not realize how many shot attempts it took to get those points. Latson has a scoring eff of 1.27 which is really good and a 48 sh eff which is also very good. Fulwiley had a 1.17 scoring eff and the same sh eff 48. The big difference was playing time 17 minutes to 31 for Latson.

I don't see a huge gain as you call it at all looks to be more like dead even with the potential side of it going to Fulwiley with the possibility of more playing time. Your looking at 0.7 for Fulwiley and 0.77 for Latson using playing time. I'll certainly be interested as to how it goes this season with Fulwiley getting a lot more time on the court.

I'll be interested if Dawn will be ok with Latson taking 20 shots per game like she did at Florida St since she is a 45 percent overall shooter and 33 from the three. Those are good numbers for sure, but I suspect she might want to see the shot total go down a few a game, but we will see.

Will post anything to try to cope👆

I believe the LVs will compete for one of the 1 seeds. They have the personnel to do so. Look out, here comes the LVs. GBO.

Hearing Chloe Kitts is out for the season for South Carolina. Just a rumor at this point but she was seen in sweats with a huge brace on her right leg/knee.

Were playing all four projected one seeds and three of them are on the road. Were also playing a projected two seed on the road. So yes were a one seed if we win three of those games and all the others. If we lose four of five not going to be a one seed. So this team is going to be required to perform at an exceptional level to be a one seed cause winning against those teams on the road is the ultimate in hard to do.

If you earnestly beleve that this team will compete with the top of the division, I'd recommend dropping a bet on LV +3300 that I'm seeing on ESPNBet. It'll probably be the last time in a while that we get preseason natty odds that favorable again.

That projects us as a 3 seed, for what it's worth. The betting odds hav three clear tiers: USCe, UCONN, UCLA being very likely 1 seeds, tu/LSU/ND/USCw being tier 2 competing for the last 1 seed(s), and then Duke, Tennessee, TCU, OU in tier 3. I think we'll be better than that, myself. It'll all come down to how much we're able to establish our system. We need to one-up our offensiv rebounding numbers and our turnover numbers -- last year's team wasn't even top 5 in turnovers per game, which is pretty unusual for a Kim Caldwell team. (Caldwell's Marshall team was #2 in the country, albeit against inferior competition of course! [the Herd did beat Florida tho])

The updated ESPN preseason rankings have just been announced and the Lady Vols start the season #7. Tennessee is a legit #1 seed contender for the NCAA tourney bottom line.
I don’t see this team staying outside of the top 3-5 for very long. From top to bottom, this team is better than LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Fulwiley is either very good and fast or completely out of control and fast. That was 100% her game. I will take a methodical Ladson over that any day. Ladson also didn't have the surrounding cast that she will have this year. We shall see how it plays out but I would still make that trade in a heartbeat.

Anyone on twitter hear about these allegations against LSU and KM???

Still haven’t figure out which player it was or what they said. Seems like a nothing burger to me. Disgruntled players have tried to trash her before. Kim just keeps trucking along.

Alexis Morris did that same ish and then went back and finished her career for Kim after she realized some things are worth working for.
