Upset Saturday = Good News for Vols

I agree, would be shocked if we won at either place. Most realistic fans feel the same way.
Agree. Until we actually win at those places, it’s hard to have confidence that we will. Gut check time; see what we’re made of! Three losses would probably put us at the mercy of the committee picking and choosing with a lot of factors

I'd magine the AP poll will slide Vandie 1 spot in front of the Vols cuz they tried down at Bama came up short but led in game so worthy of a jump ahead of Vols

Which scares me about us going to the Swamp. Fla's D is elite and we haven't won there in 22 years. Texas may not be the only UT to catch an L at the Swamp. That game scares me to death. Another reason the Ga Loss was a killer. We aren't going into Tuscalooser and winning, so that's 2 very possible Losses. We've gotta find a way to win atleast 1 of those road games..Both places we haven't won since '03.
I agree with you. Playing in the Swamp is a big task. I don't see any way we can win that one, even with Brainless Billy on the other sideline.

At the start of the season, I predicted a 7-5 season. I stand by that. If things go really bad, we could be fighting to become bowl eligible. Vols may not even be the best team in TN. Except for Pavia's 2 Red Zone picks Vandy looked pretty good. Memphis, albeit in a "weak" conference, has loads of speed and can give any pass defense fits. I would like to see us go through the rest of the season undefeated or no more than one loss. I just don't see that happening. I am really concerned about USC Light, in Columbia.

This! None of it means squat if UT lays an egg along the way. Win and the rest will take care of itself.
Yesterday was a Blood Bath. It was relaxing just to watch others agonize for a change. Punk Pavia & his puke-a-dores getting it shoved in his face in Tuscaloosa was sweet, Gators beat the 'lil faux orange boys, & ucla took it to Franklin's overrated team. Halloween came early for some.

Texas isn't the powerhouse some people thought.

Why do you think we lose in Tuscaloosa? I saw Vandy running all over Bama - we will do the same. Bama’s O-line isn’t that great either - I think our D will have a great game. And an L in the Swamp - possible - but was it that FL was so good or that the incessant over-hyping of Texas and Arch Manning was finally exposed? Texas is not the Texas of old no matter how badly all of the experts, so called, want them to be. And Arch Manning has to learn how to stand in the pocket for more than a split second before running for his life. (Reminds me of someone, but I can’t put my finger on it.) Stay positive about beating AL and UF my friend - they are certainly not automatic losses. And both will be great games! Go Big Orange!

Down goes overrated Iowa State (14) to Cincinnati. (Bearcats are a good team, btw)
Down goes overrated Penn State (7) to UCLA. (showing the difference a good coach makes)
Down goes overrated Texas (9) despite the idiotic clock management of Sunbelt Billy. (Arch Manning gets picked more than a third grader's nose)

Vandy did its best but we know who the best team in Tennessee is.

All in all a good week without having played a snap.

How many spots up do we move?

I am not sure how Texas losing to Florida in the Swamp is good news for Tennessee? A place we haven’t won in in a very long time and not to mention a resurgent Florida offense. Nothing about Saturday’s results is good news for Tennessee including a very poor showing by Mississippi State

Hey clueless, Texas was one of the teams we were competing with for a playoff spot and now they are likely out

I think we will stay directionally in the 12-14 area. The losses above us may have helped soften the ceiling but our wins are starting to take a beating with Syracuse (‘cusing themselves) and Miss State getting smacked in the mouth. I think we might go up one or two spots with PSU losing two in a row and ISU losing right above us.

Yep. And not just those two games. OU and Vandy will both be wars. If someone offered me a split of those 4 right now, I'd take it. Everyone keeps saying we have a soft schedule, but I dunno. Looks pretty challenging from where I sit.

How in tf is A&M holding Miss St to 3 points after 3 quarters? Is our D really that weak or is A&M really good or some combination of both?
I think our defense is pretty average and our tackling is sub par. Maybe things improve if/when we ever get healthy, but right now, we need to pray that our offense stays hot and healthy. We just cannot afford any type of drop off on that side of the ball. It helps that the defense has shown an ability to steal a score or two. Would be so great if our special teams could also contribute. As much as it pains me to say it, we really need Boo Carter to become that threat in the return game.

I think they're a more complete team at the moment. Their defense is physical and appears to be better tacklers than we are. Offensively, Pavia's mobility and they way they get him in space allowing him to pick and choose is a very good coaching job. Really hard to defend. Kudos to Bama for finally getting his under some control to win that game. Hope Vandy's schedule wears Pavia down like it did last year. No way do I want him full strength when they come to town.

Yes I am the clueless one lol we have lost to bad teams in the Swamp with much better defenses than our current one. Shockingly you are probably predicting a 20 point victory and will be full of excuses after it doesn’t happen. It will be the refs fault, the humidity, or we just had too many injuries on the defense to win
