2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

Completely missed the point.
I get what you're saying. You hope our signees are more than just mercenaries going to the highest bidder. I think the pushback was over the phrase "smoke and mirrors scheme" which some took to imply you meant there is something unseemly about NIL deals.

In today's recruiting world, I would say that competitive NILs are a necessary but not sufficient condition. It is the price of entry but you "seal the deal" with program considerations. However, no program is so great it can just rely on its reputation alone to sign to top talent.

The NIL reference was about substance in the offer and the player not getting fooled about what they were getting but then, I'm sure no one would try to dress up their proposals to make them look better than they really are that might mislead someone in the process.

Don't know what more I can say other than I hope the players give their decision a lot of thought and that they don't let sparkly things deter them from making the best decision for themselves and I hope the reason she commits is because she wants to be a part of something special and not because of some NIL smoke and mirrors scheme by a competing team.

Like Lamborghinis? :p

What time is Abii's announcement on Saturday? I won't be surprised if she selects either of her five finalists.

Selfishly, I'd love for a Texas girl to come play for Texas. But, in the event she chooses Tennessee, I better not be hearing any bellyaching on here when 2027 Haylen Ayers leaves the state of Tennessee to come play hoops and softball at Texas!

Read the addendum below first!! I can't verify this, but when I was googling the commitment date for Abii's announcement, AI said that she had committed to UT on Friday. NO other stories to confirm this, so I don't want to fuel untrue news. I can't help but feel a bit of adrenaline when I read this. I hope it is true.
Addendum: I do think Chuckie might be right about it could have been derived from Facebook, as now I found a May 17th Facebook post saying she committed then. I guess we will have to wait till Saturday afternoon.

Well, Facebook is part of the database search…

Let's see if Kim Caldwell can close the deal with Jacy Abii... It seems it's looking like a ND and TENN battle for this recruit!! If not, we got other targets.

I did, still missed it! 🥴 not a strong point given the response from Chuckie.
I may have missed the point as well, but I related it to what TCU is doing these days and a few other schools. They are trying to totally recruit with money through rich boosters. They are just saying here is a pile of money come here. Actually Crittendon and Jones are both being recruited by TCU so they might be our biggest adversary for those players.

I do think what TCU is doing is beyond NIL they have a guy that is paying whatever a player wants to come there. We saw that in softball already. They are also pushing for some players we want in basketball. I'm sure we've offered these players generous NIL deals as well how much do they want I am sure this guy at TCU is willing to pay.

Ainhoa Risacher Sara Okeke Jerzy Robinson

I keep hearing these names associated with Tennessee recruiting. Anybody know if Jerzy Robinson is truly an option? Her coming to Tennessee would be just as huge as O. Edwards what a duo that would be. Sara Okeke is a foreign player who were certainly in the top five or six with at this time. She has a similar style to Crittendon and Edwards.

Risacher is from France shoots over 40 percent from the three. She would be huge for the team next season.

It's probably just coincidence, but I've only found AI to be wrong on questions where I already knew the correct answer.

🤔

Ah yes, the Gell-Mann amnesia effect, but for artificial intelligence.

They claim that they're making strides on cutting down on "hallucinations", so that might be much less of an issue in 2026. If the LLM doesn't know, it shoud admit that it doesn't know instead of spewing incorrect info.

While that will be sufficient for some recruits, that alone won’t be sufficient to bring in the type of talent Kim and her staff are seeking.

The NIL era arrived four years ago and the Lady Vols missed the bus. That may have just been one facet of the HS recruiting failures, but that’s a different issue. There are no “smoke and mirrors schemes”.

If you think we signed Oliviyah without offering a competitive NIL deal, I don’t know what to tell ya.
