New York City

You are most certainly fortunate to have me around, but I have not been specifically discussing NYC (even though my knowledge is vast).
My question was "why do so many conservatives feel the continued need to portray NYC and other large cities in the most negative way possible?"

The answers (which have not been provided) would be fascinating.

And my follow up point was that the right uses and abuses social media for propaganda purposes to a far greater degree than does the left.......and that this is a provable fact with minimal effort at research.

Shockingly, it generated little rebuttal but plenty of distractors.

The PF shtick dodoleach.
good ole human instinct. they aren't us and are different because of these arbitrary things, so I must hate them.

some may have legit reasons, something bad happened to them there, had a bad experience working with/in the city. dealt with some problemsome yankees.

I'm going with 90% on your first sentence.

EXCLUSIVE: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac's NY Offices To Shutter In Response To AG James’ ‘corrupt’ Practices

The DOJ opened an investigation into AG James' mortgage records earlier in 2025

EXCLUSIVE: New York state's Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac offices will permanently close in direct response to Attorney General Letitia James' "corrupt and dangerous business practices" in the state, Fox News Digital learned Thursday.

"We are shutting down the two New York offices for Fannie and Freddie as a result of Letitia James' corrupt and dangerous business practices in the state," a source close to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which oversees government-sponsored enterprises, told Fox News Digital.

considering the size comparison between Sneedville and NYC, I would say its probably proportionate.
Sneedville or other smaller communities. We don't have a WTOB pumping out 30 sensationalist X reposts a day highlighting a few real and a lot of imaginary problems in various Bugtussles across the land.

I don't think there is much to think about here. NYC has 20 million people and the small town might have 5 or 10K. A lot of the propaganda I'm describing includes pearl-clutching about how places with more people have more total crimes, which should be obvious
Yeah it's difficult to have subway crime when there's no mass transit.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A Staten Island woman who dated Mayor Eric Adams more than a decade ago and was later appointed to a City Hall position earning more than $160,000 a year plans to release a tell-all book later this week, according to the New York Daily News.

Jasmine Ray, a Stapleton resident who has previously written in to the Staten Island Advance/SILive.com, will soon release “Political Humanity,” a self-published book detailing her alleged “hidden relationship” with Adams.

you realize this is hardly the only social media platform out there, right?
we aren't even that big of one. and its even smaller considering we are just the politics forum.

if anything you are displaying confirmation bias. you are on a website whose basis is a college in east tennessee, with the main focus on football. very conservative demographics both. and you think it proves some greater point that ONE guy rants about new york and that proves there is no hatred to small towns? and somehow that one guy represents a 20:1 hate imbalance across all of social media.

Liked for "Bugtussles".

Never heard that, or don't recall hearing it, before.

My reply to luther got mod'ed out. Rightfully so.

So let me try to provide a more appropriate version...imagine a map of the us. The liberal coast, and liberal northeast are labelled "america". The rest is labelled "dumb****istan". That is a sticker available for purchase on amazon.
Luther already has 2 on his car

Lol at both of you and everyone who fell for this

I don't know anything about accelerated programs in NY. I have experience with that in my little hamlet in TN. My son was tested in elem school and started getting a bit extra attention through the IED (or some similar acronym) program. It ramped up a bit in middle and took a big leap in high school.
The issue I have is the rationale to phase out the program. Exacerbating segregation is not inherently negative when the segregation is based on merit or ability. In the blind, I would expect the Asian and Nigerian 1st gen kids to be over sampled as gifted compared to others. I think talent and ability is something to nourish.

As I understand it, they are eliminating gifted programs for kindergarten kids and expanding them at the third-grade level. Either way, Tennessee had a program called ENCORE for elementary schools and to me it never seemed that useful.

I don't think middle or high school programs will be impacted by this at all. The Twitter caption was very misleading

My kid's program wasn't called Encore. At least i don't think so.
The benefit to him starting in elementary was to prep his path in middle and high. His IEP counselor was fantastic and met with him/us twice a year all the way through his senior year.
A sweet anecdote about that, he invited her to his high school graduation. She came and she told him he was the only student that she worked with in her career that invited her to graduation. I thought that was a real sweet moment for both of them

Sure glad my kids were too dumb to be in that program.
