Netanyahu has been undermining the deal saying troops are not leaving, and that kind of BS. The deal is bogus. It's just meant to
- make it look like Bibi offered something reasonable,
- then he tips his hand to Hamas that it's fake so they'll reject it,
- then western media doesn't cover that,
- and then we're all left saying, "Hamas didn't take the deal, so I guess it's OK to kill more babies."
I'll take a stab at this. And be serious.Genuine question (for anyone that wants to answer) Why do so many people care so deeply about countries on the other side of the world they have no connection to?
Simply put:Genuine question (for anyone that wants to answer) Why do so many people care so deeply about countries on the other side of the world they have no connection to?
That’s a good explanation I think. What about for you personally? (If you do care)I'll take a stab at this. And be serious.
For some, it is personal because they are Jewish. Some evangelicals feel a special relationship with the area and feel it is important for end times prophecies. Many are disgusted by our money and meddling and think it's despicable we are part of the abuse of Arabs. There are people sympathetic to Arabs "under the thumb" of a country created by governments in a heavy-handed way after ww2. No doubt there are people who are horrified by the violence and killing which has been occurring our whole life. And, I think some believe the land rightfully belongs to Palestinians and peace can only be achieved by expulsion of a Jewish state.
So you think this conflict is being used to manipulate people and that’s what’s causing the increased interest?Simply put:
The world is connected at multiple levels like never before.
information passes along instantly now
People have realized they can manipulate you with propaganda, there's multiple angles being played always and it's used to both galvanize and repulse.

Yes and no, I think people always seize on the current events to manipulate, both those they agree with and others that don't.So you think this conflict is being used to manipulate people and that’s what’s causing the increased interest?
No just in general and for people personally
Highlighting your second part, this is what I don’t get. Why does Gaza dominate the news? Some of it is for sure religious for many. For some (I’d put myself here) it’s more strategic (allies against China, Russia, etc).
What I don’t understand is the obsessive crowd. I keep up with the conflict and try to stay informed. We have some in here constantly posting their latest fb feed story regarding the issue.
But then there’s another level beyond that. Anyone who is protesting in Europe over flotilla, anyone who is harming Jewish or Palestinian people within our country or abroad, anyone who is making significant life choices to ensure they boycott the proper groups as part of a strategy to divest from Israel, etc
That stuff is wild. “I’m going to shut down the local train station because of Palestine!”-huh?
Protests only "help" when the majority of the country or normal people think and agree with the protestors' message."Well the protest didn't immediately change everything" yeah, no protest does. Protests are organized by people NOT in power or they wouldn't be protests, we have some real thinkers here
I am basically indifferent. I have a slight lean towards Israel because, while not great, their government is closer to my ideals than any state in the region. That’s a good explanation I think. What about for you personally? (If you do care)

You have Islamist groups that have killed:
350,000 in Nigeria
300,000 in Darfur
500,000 in Somalia
And millions more across Congo, Syria, Iraq, and beyond.
Christians beheaded in churches
Yazidis enslaved
Shia bombed
Whole villages erased.
Where is the outrage?
Real ethnic cleansing and the world looks away.
It's a global plague and the silence makes it invisible.
That same ideology attacked Israel on Oct 7 with the intent of ethnically cleansing the people of Israel.
I’m not saying there isn’t suffering in Gaza, there is. But from what I see, what’s going on isn’t about justice or helping the Palestinians. The protests are about silencing and alienating the only Jewish state and Jews around the world.
The bigger truth is Islamist terror is the central issue causing the world’s instability.
Say what you want about Netanyahu, he definitely has his faults, a lot, but he isn’t a coward. He keeps warning the world about Islamic terror but gets mocked. When you see what’s going on around the world he looks right.
Wasn't there an ethnic cleansing/ genocide in China recently, too? Against a society of Chinese Muslims?Highlighting your second part, this is what I don’t get. Why does Gaza dominate the news?
