We're not going up in size, staying about the same SQft but all on one level instead of 3. Old guys hate stairs.

Got a couple quotes for a pool, these people have lost their damned minds. Prices have more than doubled since we put one in our old house in 2014.

Crazy thing is a home that's 1600-1800 square feet in West Knoxville will go for the same as what ours does now...

Got a kid at UTK. In hindsight, I would have bought something up there and rented it out. It's nuts up there. I know Nashville is beyond crazy.

Bubble never really hit Memphis suburban areas. I got a nuts offer for last home but that was a CA transplant with more $$$ than sense...

Wish like heck we would have bought in Cookeville when son started there, just wasn't in the financial position to do so at the time.

All of Mid TN is nuts, I keep thinking that its gotta calm down. It's slowed maybe a tad but still crazy.

We did the larger house last time. Hated the upkeep, hated the HOA, and had kid move out.

I didnt want a that big of our financial picture for real estate in a struggling metro.

We are likely out of the region once daughter grads HS so I dont want a huge anchor tied to us to keep us here..

Can't believe you aren't going to stay here and "make Memphis a better place". Quitter

NAACP, Local Organizations Speak Out Against Crime Task Force In Memphis​

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The NAACP Memphis Branch, along with other local organizations, is holding a press conference Friday afternoon to discuss concerns about the United States National Guard, United States Marshals, and other federal agencies’ deployment in Memphis and resources available for the community.

“The federal occupation of Memphis is unnecessary, unwarranted and must end. Our city is not a military training ground,” said Kermit Moore, president of NAACP Memphis. “The resources spent on this occupation could do far more good if they were invested in our people. … That is how you build safe and strong communities.”

4th Man Arrested By Memphis Safe Task Force For Deadly Frayser Shooting​

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The fourth murder suspect in connection to a deadly double shooting in Frayser is in custody by the Memphis Safe Task Force, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Malik Merriweather, 24, was wanted for first-degree murder and solicitation of criminal attempt.

On April 22, officers responded to a shooting call on Cleoford Avenue.

When officers arrived, they discovered that three victims, including Jasmine Ellington, were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

According to the affidavit, Ellington was the mother of one of the suspect’s children, later identified as Lorenzo Cross.

Ellington and one of the other victims were pronounced dead on the scene, while the third surviving victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man has been convicted of killing a gas station customer in a 2023 stabbing.

District Attorney Steve Mulroy says a jury found 64-year-old Joseph Smith guilty of second-degree murder after a five-day trial. The jury also convicted Smith of tampering with or fabricating evidence.

Five years after daughter's Murder, mother searches for justice​

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Another visit to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office brought more heartache than hope for one family.

It’s been five long years since Tonya Kerr’s daughter 32-year-old Keierra McNeil, who was pregnant at the time was shot and killed outside a Walgreens in Cordova.

“One bullet hit her leg but rest of the bullets hit her stomach. The sad part about this is one of the bullets hit her baby in the head,” said Tonya Kerr, victim’s mother.
