The official UGA bulldogs crying like Bs thread

I highly doubt Kirby was waiting until he was "ready" and then told UGA he could head over. He would have taken that job the instant UGA offered it to him, even if it was several years prior.

I think things just finally came to a head with Richt during/after the 2015 season. They were a play away from playing for the title in 2012, then finished unranked 2 out of the next 3 seasons. In his last year, they were preseason #9 and had a pretty favorable schedule where they only played a couple of good teams, but got blown out by both (also lost to us) and had completely listless wins against Mizzou, Georgia Southern, and Georgia Tech.
That’s about exactly how I think it happened.

well I wonder if the opposite kinda happened too. Smart told UGA he was ready for a job and thats why they gave Richt the boot.
Quite possible. And an obscure and well kept secret either way if imagineable, cause the Richt/Smart/UGA bridge has never been burnt in any direction.

Yeah. He was struggling, literally, to keep his head in the game by that time. Tried to hang on going to Miami, then accepted he had some real health issues and walked away.

You'd think his Parkinson's parlayed into the last 2-3 years, and he still was all time win leader % until Kirby finally passed him. Makes you wonder how that UGA career would have written itself if that hadn't happened to him. That's not a disease you just wake up with one morning and don't feel good. I just have no knowledge of how early stages even affect the mind, and how that affected on field coaching or whatever. If it could have been a factor, then it's pretty impressive he stacked up the wins like he did. MJ Fox wasn't all that old either when it hit him.

I don't think Richt or anyone knew he had a disease. May have been some slight concerns something was off. Who knows. But, I think he firgured out he was ill at Miami, and retired. After that he got a full check up and got diagnosed.

He wasn't diagnosed with Parkinsons until 2021, 3 years after he retired. I know nothing about Parkinsons, but I have heard that the symptoms can appear well before a formal diagnosis in some cases.

Even with the benefit of hindsight, I don't remember seeing anything apparent in his public appearances that he was slowing down, having physical trouble, etc., prior to him saying that he'd been diagnosed. Actually, even after he announced he was diagnosed, he seemed the same for a little bit to me. The last couple of years it has really hit him hard, which is so sad.

It seems slow to manifest into something others can notice. I know next to nothing about it myself. My suppositions were statements of curiosity, not knowing how it would affect his mind in his job even in early stages. Look how long it took to become visible with MJ Fox. And he was on into his 40's or so before it became visible ?? Without any one shedding expertise on it, us regular folk could not correlate any of that. So even though he didn't diagnose till a couple years later, he either felt something was up and retired, or knew he wasn't delivering to Miami what they paid for and decided he wasn't going to be one that held on too long before walking away. Minimally, he gets props for not riding the train downhill just for the money, and salvaged hte end of his career with a good rep still intact.

We do not have the defense to stop Ty Simpson. You did not either. We would have to score at least 55 to be competitive. Our special teams also have problems. I miss the coach that went to Nebraska.

You are probably right on a serious note but it depends on how Alabama plays. Florida State's defense was enough to stop Ty Simpson lol. I am going to keep bringing that up, it drives posters on here nuts.

The issue is that Alabama had no business losing that game and they know it.

Gotcha, Karen. I'll make sure my sarcasm is suitably non-disturbing to VolDawgs.

You do love your uga, I'll grant you that.
You're just putz. Kool-aid drinker that don't know who's been owning him.

I'm just old enough and mature enough to understand I can be a fan of one and not be nutted about the other, especially when the other was our complete source of livlihood our entire life growing up. And also knowing some of these other schools we also play sub-contracted project work from dad. It's not a pre-requisite to hate opponents. Rather childish.

Childish? My first post wasn't directed at you. You have replied with a string of ad-hominem insults ("brain dead redneck", "putz", Kool-aid drinker"). Who went childish?

I despise uga. 'Hate' is a strong word, and I don't 'hate' anyone, you chose that term. I respect certain opponents. uga is not and will never be in that camp.

I'll post as I like. The ignore button is there for a reason, and if my uga posts hurt your feelings, please feel free to use it.

So...who was it at?
Yeah. UT used to lead the series all-time. Then Richt happened. Then Kirby happened. 19-6 against UT last 25 matchups. They don't have to defend a whole lot.
A loyal VolDawg responds. Well done, sir!

I will never understand why so many Vols want to play Omega dog to uga, but if it makes you happy, who am I to judge?

I'm not sure if it is more fun watching uga fans cry and moan, or watching their loyal VolDawgs arrive to help defend that trash program.

Much sadness in the corridors of Butts-Mehre Hall this Monday, for sure!

Just a glorious thread all around. Well done, OP, well done!!! :)

P.S. The @DirtyDawg poster seems ok. A unicorn among uga fans.

uh, let's see. I believe the OP and @DirtyDawg. You jumped in to defend uga.

This is old. Lets just agree to disagree on this. You're a very pro uga poster (for a Vol) and I despise the program and 99% of its fans.

I thought the main reason he left Miami was because they were forcing him to make personnel moves he didn't want to make?

That's probably the most likely, and primary reason so he just said you know what....

Only thing I might remotely know about parkinson's is that it seems to be a slow mover. I doubt he woke up one day in retirement and said I have a problem. But, there were possibly signs popping up along the way and you don't really know you have a problem, just things.

I agree, our defense had finally started playing well, you take the points and probably win. Oh well. In truth though, we should have just made that yard. It’s one yard! We didn’t deserve to win if we can’t bully out 1 yard!!! It was actually a good play call, Cash should have kept his feet long enough to make 1 yard.

Totally agree. On the road you take the points, but at home you get the damn yard, and I'd bet that was Kirby's thinking.

I'd be surprised if UGa doesn't roll after this, unless Stockton just isn't the guy. Kirby will fix the defensive issues, and there is too much skill position talent on that offense.

As much as it is fun to see Georgia humbled a little, all of this just makes me sick at my stomach because we should have beat them... I don't really find joy in Alabama beating them. Then again, my perception might change if we find a way to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

the thing that bothered me was thinking that Georgia could have already had two losses this year, and largely been out of things. Bama we still get to play to give them their second L. that would have been wonderful.

The funny change this year is a lot of Georgia fans haven't talked a lot about the Tennessee game or brag up Tennessee as a good team. I think even they know that Tennessee really lost that game more than Georgia won it. You do get the occasional "9 wins in a row" guy. Then again, their performance against Alabama is worse than our performance against them.

It does kind of show hope that perhaps that incessant need for affirmation uga fans have may be diminishing somewhat.

That UGA loss looks worse every day. We had them, and shouldn't even have came down to a last second field goal. We'll be chasing that loss all season.... we literally have to win @ Alabama to save our season.......

It just means we have to flat out beat them next year, and I am beginning to think we can and will. uga was always a house of cards, Smart snuck in at a time when we were down hard, and used Bammer recruiting tactics nearly as good as ole Nick**. Now with UT back ascendant, and NIL making the Bammer approach moot, I see uga falling back to a middle to upper middle of the road SEC school in a few years.

** cue the uga fans and VolDawgs bleating about how uga NEVER did that, and recruits suddenly flocked to uga just out of sheer uga awesomeness, bestest-ness, and unicorns.

The following is how I honestly feel about our game in Knoxville. Try to read past this next paragraph if you can.👍

- That last drive for GA in regulation was unbelievably clutch and worthy of a ridiculous come from behind win. It wasn’t luck, it was just very unexpected that Stockton throws an absolute dime on fourth down and then somehow we were fortunate enough to convert to tie the game. I was shocked, but they were both well executed plays. Not one of us fans from either team thought that could or would happen. Just absolutely SHOCKING!!! But not luck IMO.

- Luck shows her face on TN’s final drive of regulation. It wasn’t shocking at all to watch the TN offense march right down into field goal range to win the game! I was dreading it the very second that JA and the Vols took the field! In truth, probably around 99% of knowledgeable football fans were thinking pretty much what I was. “TN has just kicked UGA’s a$$” and well, we were right! But for the fact that Lady Luck does then finally show her beautiful and hideous face to us all. That was luck no matter how you look at it IMO.

- Tennessee played well enough and deserved to win the game. TN absolutely should have won the game! Lady Luck was an outright, total, and pure Biiitch to Gilbert and every other Volunteer player, coach, and fan!

- Yet one loss can no longer ruin a good team’s chance to become a great team! No matter if it’s Lady Luck or a Crimson Tide that delivers an utterly devastating Biitch Slap!

WE PLAY ON!!! The final whistle will ultimately sound for us all this season! What sublime and dreadful music might we enjoy and endure of this ensemble orchestrated by this game we love?
