Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Thought it was interesting that Justin Baker ran before him yesterday. Morris has the talent (hence being out on kick and punt returns) but he might be picking up the small things slower.
Morris was in at PR and got a series at RB in the Syracuse game. Baker did not get in that game. So not sure if something changed during the week is practice or something else.

It's wild to me that Bama is 5-5 in their last 10, lost 3 of those while favored by more than 14 points and you still have Vol fans defending them. The evidence is on the side of those who say they are garbage.
Who’s been defending them?
I’m not on one side or the other but they are still way above average in talent.
They don’t have discipline or seem well prepared but that doesn’t mean that any given Saturday they can’t put together a good game.

RB room is pretty impressive and deep right now.

It's obvious 2 things are happening...

Bishop = knows the offense the best, and is the one they're trying to keep at full health the most
Peyton = knows the offense well but either isn't full health and they're trying to get him more reps but also not over work him...or he's still not doing certain things well
Star = talent wise might be the best, but obviously isn't as familiar yet with offense compared to Bishop/Peyton so he's getting more work to get him up to speed faster

Morris/Baker = all talent right now but man you can see they have something

Any of the 5 behind the 1st team OL could put up numbers I think
The stats are not very kind to Lewis. I think he has tremendous athletic traits. Built like you want a RB to be built. Good center of gravity. Powerful and not afraid to use it. Good speed. But lacking vision, patience, and wiggle.

You haven't watched a single minute of UCLA football and it shows.

TEs...I'll just say don't know, not seen enough. But WRs were making some big catches for him last night...that UCLA OL and RB group are very bad though.
Didnt watch the second game bc it was blacked out or NA in my area. Kept up via APP. Watched the first half of first game. Didnt see any plays that jumped out, did see some drops.

Also UGA game is obviously a critical game but it isn’t a must win.

If you win you are in the drivers seat to win the SEC and secure a CFP birth and host.

But if you lose, it’s still early and you have plenty of games to make up ground. Definitely nothing to panic about.

I think we win honestly and we finally start to earn some respect. JA makes a loud statement!
Tone setter game

Exactly. I think beating UGA is more important from a mentality and mindset standpoint than the rankings.

We can definitely still have a playoff season if we lose, but establishing the mentality of being the dominant team is how you avoid repeating the OSU debacle.

Yeah, he's also just in year 2 and had some injuries last season and in camp if I recall correctly. Size, Speed, all there...can you teach him those last 3 that separate him from just being an athlete at RB to an elite runner.

Most fans don't seem to have any idea how untalented Alabama really is. You see that they have recruited well and you don't factor in all th plaeyers that have transfered. 30 players left Bama last year when Deboer was hired. More left in December and they making big impacts on other teams. Blue Chip Ratio is worthless in telling you how rosters stack up against each other. They dont' factor in the portal at all.

I mean, just look at the results. All their talent is in the skill positions and they don't have a QB.

Not sure we have enough of a body of work to make assessments, but right now I could see Lewis growing into the role Shawn Bryson held as a SR. Just not sure how that fits in this offense. But have confidence Sims and co will figure out how to help him be successful.

Our offense felt clunky with both Joe and Nico. That's the best way I can explain it. Like it was missing a couple cylinders.

When Hooker played, the offense was humming. Everything was smooth. It feels that same way with with Aguilar. Hopefully he just keeps getting better with more experience in the system and the team & coaches gel. We could be looking at a team that's as good or better than '22 and we just don't realize it yet.
kinda like a Glitch thread..clunky, off timing, pistons melting, crankshafts grinding, spun bearings, thrown rods.

Probably not gonna happen. Our fans still revel in Butch Jones failures.
He earned it.
