We “should” be, but there is absolutely zero way the voters will admit they were wrong and that we have a top 10-15 team.

Maybe staff shouldve taken more WR and DT bodies in winter porthole. but, maybe they didnt bc they like where they were with freshmen DT. I dunno, I love this class. So, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i'm choosing joy.

Recruiting rankings are such a crap shoot.

I’m no scout but zero people watch Joey Aguilar and Nico both play and pick Nico. JA is savvy, buys time, quick decisions, sees the field and is always ready to strike.

Nico has all the physical tools yet none of the mental side of the game. Doesn’t see the field well, doesn’t process well, panics in the pocket.

Crazy.

Exactly why I hate preseason polls. Pollsters refuse to admit they are wrong and don’t make big changes after week 1 which is why it takes weeks for some teams to drop out or rise in the poll.

There's little evidence we do or do not have a top 15 team. It's been one game against a probably horrific team that won't make a bowl.

Making any conclusions about any team who won is just guesswork after one game. Rankings this early are beyond silly.

These polls don’t matter anyway. The rankings as of right now are just for discussion topics and nothing more.

While I agree that rankings this early in the season are guesswork and ridiculous, if you were going to have preseason polls based on nothing, then the polls after week one need to be based off of the games that were played. Based off of the games and teams that I watch, we are a top 10 to 15 team. There is absolutely zero way Alabama should be ranked ahead of us when the polls come out, but (if I gambled) I would pretty much put my house on it that they will be. There is absolutely zero way that Indiana and Michigan should be ranked ahead of us, but they will be. I will reiterate it… If you’re going to have preseason rankings based on absolutely nothing except for who is on the roster and the stars behind their name, then week one rankings have to be based on week one games.

I know it’s just 1 game

But Joey gave me 90s/early 2000s gunslinger QB vibes.

You hardly see guys like that anymore since coaches largely moved to more risk adverse passing concepts.

But I could see it in him. He ain’t scared. I bet he will throw us out of a game or two this year. But we might stand a chance against some better teams as well if he gets hot.

Maybe not entirely, but to a certain degree they matter when it comes to national TV exposure and media attention early in the season. You want the media talking about your team. Being an underdog that nobody talks about was fine for what the program was 4 or 5 years ago, but now we probably want the spotlight. More attention leads to more nationally televised games, more buzz around the program, and it helps with recruiting.

Syracuse is probably a 6-6 or 5-7 team this season by looking at their schedule. This weekend vs Connecticut will be the difference whether Syracuse makes a Bowl Game or not..

DeBoer was stupid to take that job...he was never going to succeed there. He should have been like Campbell at Iowa State and just stayed at Washington forever.
