They did in Tennessee and the TVA’s 5 yr experiment produced fail after fail…especially wind. Solar with battery backup is the only way it comes close to working unless you own acres of panels and sell it back to the market without any other overhead. Just panels covering green fields perfectly SW positioned for optimal sun.If the govt wants to push solar they should incentivize small scale projects, homes and businesses.

Since we were talking about large wind/solar farms, most of the time, these are getting one of the kickers from IRA that will bump it up to 40% or more. Layer on state incentive, favorable depreciation writeoff, and the amount the govt subsidizes gets large pretty quickly

Good project money…a good woman. I designed, sold, installed, and maintained solar and wind projects. In Cali at $.30+ pkwh and heavily subsidized yes a residential project could pay for itself in a few years. The TVA ran a 5 yr (diminishing each yr) subsidy program. They bailed out because at $.10pkwh energy cost here in northeast Tennessee the ROI even with subsidies were taking 5-7yrz commercial and 12-15yr residential.
If you wanna buy 20acres set up a field and know how it’ll pay ~ $6k a month running it straight to the meter and selling it back. Paid for in 5-7 yrs and with a healthy return - maintenance costs…if it lives 20yrs and you know what you’re doing in optimal design and product selection.

If I had to redo it, far left would be anarchy and Libertarian would be the far left party. Both Democrat and Republican parties are left in my poll. A good example of how our current terminology is broken, if Nazi Germany is far right than what is Germany in 1914? What about the Holy Roman Empire and the Hapsburgs or Prussia? Modern systems can't even address it.
As socialists as the Democrats maybe at time, they are still pretty far from Communism and are closer to the Republican Party than they are the USSR. USSR is closer to Nazi Germany (and vice versa) than it is any political party in the USA.
