Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

I quit eating there because of their burgers. Actually, the food has been going downhill since Covid.
This. Our local Cracker Barrel has fallen off a cliff with their quality the last several years. I guess that cancel culture thing got them to reverse course this time.

Or...I wouldn't put it past them to have done the rebrand knowing it would get them on the news and then make people care about them again so they could then reverse course and have idiots flocking to eat there like they saved the place. It's way too easy to create an uproar in this current sensitive climate full of pansies that are scared to death of every make believe boogeyman that certain scumbags on TV and online are telling them are coming after everything they love.

I just don't get all the constant pearl-clutching over something as insignificant as a restaurant trying to rebrand. All kinds of big companies have done it in the last 20 years and we don't hear all the whining until now. Bunch of folks take the bait every time. Whether Cracker Barrel seriously tried to rebrand or if they pulled a fast one, either scenario got a lot of folks to bite hard.

That'll be $30, would you like to tip?

Just let them rant over changing the scenery and sign, I got a bigger issue with serving alcoholic beverages with a order of Chicken&Dumplings or a Biscuit&Gravy...

Let me know when they start putting out good food. Went there about a month ago for the first time in years as some kids we were babysitting wanted to try it. Instead of a rebrand the idiots should have put that wasted money into better quality food and actually some portions. 2 of the kids got adult meals and I had to feed them afterwards the portions are so small. I love chicken n dumplings but I have gotten better from a Dinty Moore can. Spend millions to rebrand when your food and portions suck makes a lot of sense.
Like lots of places some morphing is good and some bad. I ate at the mothership in Lebanon while living in Hermitage area YEARS ago, want to support home state companies, but this rebranding ranks up there with NEW COKE. This CEO has to be on notice after seeing a series of her public statements about the motivations for the signage and whitewashing the decor.

Wife liKes the turkey special, so I go, but gravy ain’t what it used to be, never liked either sausage offering, only place I get bacon, so I fight through the visits.

I totally get it. Everything is becoming sterile, overly bright, and cube-shaped. Nice to still have a dimly-lit, kitschy refuge from that aesthetic, even if the food isn’t very good anymore.

The pancakes are still pretty good.

It does feel kind of inappropriate, somehow. I don’t think I could down a beer while a photograph of some old lady from 1907 silently judges me.

Yea, that's why I think people have way too much time on their hands. I have way more important things to be concerned about. (Vols football being one).

A bunch of people on one side lost their minds over a jeans ad a few weeks ago. Now a bunch of people on the other side lost their minds over a corporate rebrand. Everyone is on such a hair trigger these days. It’s like we all look for things to get mad about.

Worst restaurant burger I ever had was at the cracker.
I have had some pretty bad meals at my local CB. Yet, I have friends who eat there 2 or 3 times a week. We have several family owned places that serve a much better breakfast at lower prices. The same places also serve country cooking plate lunches that have CB beat.

Last time I was there I got a biscuit that was aight. It just took 45 minutes. Other ppls food was fine.

Most of these corporate restaurant chains are just really struggling nowadays.

But yeah, I prefer a local diner. I'll choose that everytime and last time I was at Cracker Barrell, it was the inlaws fault.

I did have a nice conversation with old folks on the rocking chairs. That I liked.

Cheeseburgers aside. Their breakfast is meh, and its $28 + tip.

Perpetually online ready to purity test everything. If others don’t hear about how virtuous we are what will we do?

Doesn’t really matter in the end anyway. I read a report last night that said Cracker Barrel lost almost 60% of their earnings last year compared to the year before. I don’t think a logo flip-flop is going to save them when the whole thing comes crashing down.

Bad food quality and their failure to attract new customers is killing them and I guess they thought a rebrand would magically fix at least one of those problems. Red Lobster and Hooters and others are already closing down all over, Cracker Barrel won’t be the last.

Maybe we finally see these bland chains die off and small businesses start taking over again.
