I think a big problem is people don't consider how dumb they actually are and when they are convinced of something their too dumb to consider that they could be wrong.

One of my biggest assets is knowing how dumb I actually am, 😂
That actually is an asset. I do try to question my own 'pre-held' beliefs and biases but it's an ongoing battle.

Well, true enough Biden didn't outwork him.

I just now saw this post, so I'm a bit late here. I don't really agree or disagree on the point you're trying to make. I just wanted to note that us being in a position of arguing over which geriatric man worked more is really a pitiful position to be in. How did we get to this point where we're even letting people this old on the ballot for the biggest job in the world? You have to be extraordinarily blinded by political bias to think either of these men have the mental and physical stamina for this job. I guess the political climate is so bad that younger folks don't want to put their families through it and the old folks are like, "doesn't bother me, I don't have much time left anyways".

NASA's necessary and embarrassing rescue by Elon kept off the news until after the election. Go figure.
What are you talking about? It’s been on the news for weeks and this is Boeing’s mess. Hope Elon’s rocket can actually get off the ground more than 50 feet. View attachment 671433
Bump. For the record. Now it can be told.

Do our phones listen to us when they're not supposed to? My nephew was here several hours ago talking about what he wants for his birthday. He wants something for his PC called rog strix. I didn't really know what it was or even how to spell it. . . I would've typed rod strips or something. . .

Anyway, I've never searched it on my phone or anywhere before, but now I'm getting rog strix ads all over the place.

Has this ever happened to you before?

Apple just lost a law suit for that

Thanks! Never really heard of it but will look into it.

I failed to mention that my previous doctor (and continued by current NP) prescribed me a cholesterol medication, but it isn't a statin. I was told it was not a long term solution but was fine for my age. I've never really had any side affects that I know of.
There is nothing wrong with trying to lower cholesterol into a more normal range, provided you don't take it too low or do more damage than you correct by doing so. Cholesterol is 'U' shaped. Too low is just as bad as too high, although low hurts different things. The people pushing statins act like lower is always better....false. Lower to a point, sure. Some statins do lower inflammation though, which might be their real benefit. But fixing heart issues only to cause brain issues isn't very helpful.

But seriously, check it. Very few docs seem to emphasize ApoE genotyping, even though we now know it is the #1 genetic risk factor for dementia and other diseases of old age. The study of what it does in the body has greatly expanded the understanding of how to fight it, not just as applied to dementia, but also heart disease. I've seen these genetics wipe out multiple generations of my family, but I am increasingly confident I can avoid that fate.

Shared only under topic of TIX prices.

Someone posted in FB the other day about how minimum wage ($7.xx) is less than the cost of a panera sub and I was thinking like - who you know hiring or working for less than 12 these days? Truly..Unless it is under the table....

I was also thinking no one would have wanted to hire my HS butt at 15 an hour back then. Low wage jobs were for job training and gas money not buying a house.

No one is buying a house in 2025 making $15 or $20/hour.

I thought about this. A 2 income family at 20/hr each is $83,200 not including bonuses or benefits. That is exactly 393% of the federal poverty level. You could buy a house on that income. Maybe not in LA, but in most of TN you could.
My daughter and SIL have 3 kids bought a home last year that is 2 doors down valued at around $220k for $140k He makes $25/hr. and she is a stay at home mom. It is tight. The only reason they got the home at that price is because I would mow and do repairs for them and they would pay if they had the money. The lady said she wanted to treat me how I treated her for all these years. It was the only way they could buy a home.

So much is out of whack in this economy. Unfortunately, it seems to me to be a similar situation that we experienced in the early 2000's. The value of many jobs in in the tank while the value of homes is through the roof. IMO, the root cause is Private Equity companies, They should be treated as monopolies and busted up.

Yes, but you're old and that was a long time ago. I could get all 'political here'...but I'll save that for somwhere else.
There is no new thing under the sun, Listen to us old geezers, we know a thing or two. And as far political goes, the Jeniuses with the woke ideas are are idiots, and are crashing and burning.

It's kind of sad if one has to define "not racist" as "woke". Actually, it's a bit insulting to insinuate that you have to be woke to not be racist. Maybe you don't have a little 'woke' in you. Maybe you're just a decent person with common sense and empathy, which could be either side of the political aisle.

I've seen a lot of people hide real racism behind the 'anti-woke' movement. As almost all things, goes way too far. Apparently, now, Cracker Barrel is Woke because they redesigned their logo. Some act like we've gotten past the whole 'racism' thing and thus, we can just ignore it's existence. For me, yes, screaming 'racist' when anything happens was an issue. And now, the reaction is to scream 'WOKE' if you ever scream 'racism'. Final point though is that a lot of this is mere distraction. It's way down the list of important things that really impact my life. My top issues include things like 'health care' and 'wages'.
