'26 VA OL Darius Gray

Apparently the buzz is currently with SCar. Losing Gray to LSU is one thing, but if we lose him to SCar..... Why would a 5* OL want to play for Slingblade?? It makes zero sense to me.

So regardless of all the relevant info that has been shared in this very thread...you want to make a post that acts like it's some big mistake and mystery why this kid is going to USClite instead of UT? Doesn't the same song and dance get monotonous at some point?

We sent out 100's of offers to recruits this cycle alone, be sure to go to all of their threads and post about losing out on them. Surely you will find answers

My point was why would a guy who obviously has better choices choose SCar? He's a damn 5*. Why would he waste his talent in that craphole?

In this day and age of college football, that answer isn’t too difficult to arrive at. Look at what Texas Tech is hauling in. Look what BYU is hauling in in basketball. There is one common denominator.

Interesting. Recruiting is fluid and the Hiter decision may have changed staff outlook on this kid. I do believe Gray would rather be at Tennessee than his other 2 top schools. May be too late now, but we’ll see what happens.
Changed the outlook or freed up funds?

Unfortunately, I think he is building up drama for the announcement. We are a hat at this point

Vols true freshman offensive lineman David Sanders Jr sends message to elite 5-star recruit Tennessee is still trying to land

The Tennessee Vols are one of several teams hoping to land 2026 five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray this week.

Gray, 6-foot-3/285 lbs from Richmond, VA, is set to announce his commitment on August 22. He's rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 16 overall player in the 2026 recruiting period.

LSU, South Carolina, Ohio State, and Clemson are also in the mix for Gray.

Vols true freshman offensive lineman David Sanders Jr, the No. 6 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class, used his Instagram account to send a message to Gray on Tuesday.

"Bring it home brudda," wrote Sanders on a repost of Gray's commitment plans on Instagram.

I finally put him on ignore for a few months, and I recommend doing the same. I don't mind well-reasoned, dissenting opinions, but the Legion of the Miserable ignore all pertinent information that contradicts their tired narrative. It's exhausting, and life's too short to argue with a brick wall.

If the staff/Spyre decide that money earmarked for the RB position is well spent on paying Gray to be an OT then I think UT would be very much in play here. I don't know the answer to that question. Could make it interesting. I guess we will see.
