Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Would like to address this now because I’m already seeing this narrative: “Hiter chose Michigan because they’re a better rushing offense.” That is false. Full stop. I ran the last three seasons of rushing data through matplotlib you can see for yourself. Our rushing offense is trending up. Michigan’s is trending down. That’s why I think Hiter chose wrong, and I’ll stand by it.

TLDR; We will be a great rushing team without Hiter, per usual. Michigan might need Hiter to get to our level.

If you want the receipts:

I didn’t say he wasn’t pro Tennessee. I said he doesn’t know our team. From everything I’ve watched he has very surface level knowledge of this team that doesn’t make me respect his opinion at all.

Tbh he knows the same as this fanbase that only sees the players 12ish times per year. Unless you’re in the program, you have surface level knowledge.

We just aren't recruiting well enough to catch the
Bama and Dawgs of this world. Ranking 4-6 in SEC is
too much to ask of this coaching staff to overcome.
Post reads like it’s someone else’s recruiting and the coaching staff is trying to overcome their mediocre results.

What you’re really saying is Coaching staff isn’t good enough to overcome their weaknesses in recruiting to catch the Dawgs and Bama’s.

Don’t see anything changing unless a few upgrades are made.

Heup era (so far):
Overall: 37-15 (71.2%)
SEC: 20-12 (62.5%)
vs Bama: 2-2
vs Florida: 2-2
vs Georgia: 0-4
vs rest of SEC: 16-4 (80%)

And 6 losses were all in year 1 and a few of those the officials straight up dropped the ball (vs Ole Piss & vs Purdue).

All 3 of the unranked SEC teams we lost to were on the road...
2022 at South Carolina (very likely they knew our signals),
2023 at Florida
2024 at Arkansas

Michigans rushing offense is more similar to the NFL than ours. We need some of our offensive guys to become good NFL players.

The main upgrade needed for recruiting is the head coach but he is excellent at everything else

This is the correct take

Vol fans def know this team more than anyone else.

The media ran with the narrative and now they all just cling on and say the same thing. Every team has a narrative and ours is pretty much that we shouldn’t even show up this yr even though these same ppl cant name 10 people on the team. It is funny though seeing S&P ratings, blue chip ratio and vegas win totals go against everything these idiots are saying 😂
It is very rare for anyone in any media today to have an original idea or take. They latch on to a narrative then everyone just endlessly repeats it regardless of it's truth.

Frankly, I care more about college production. Hope they do well in the NFL, but Heup keeps churning out gaudy rushing stats and wins regardless.

It won’t happen because the small amount of people that would pay that price would cause them to lose tons of revenue.

For PPV, it has largely proven itself as a failed model with its near complete disappearance in recent/coming years.
Big rant incoming:

I meant like Amazon Prime, Netflix, ESPN+, ect. Basically you'll have to have a subscription to some streaming service to watch the games. My dad has a TV antenna and doesn't have internet. He gets CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC. So if wants to watch the VOLS, he's out of luck watching it at his house.

That's what's getting lost in all this, the older crowd that has supported the VOLS for 40, 50, 60, even 70 years, is getting left behind. The ones that have sit through a lot of bad football, basketball, and baseball games are being told to pony up or get out. Pushing the locals out is not cool. We're not florida or georgia or kentucky where this type of behavior is expected. This is happening in Knoxville TN and it's not sitting ok with me. I'm not that excited for the season because of the greed of college athletics as a whole. It's too much.

*Much like with the Knox/Anderson County housing market and how my 20 yr old son is not able to afford a place of his own. It's not the locals driving prices up, it's all these yankees and west coasters coming in. The housing market they're coming from is twice as high as what East Tennessee has been. The locals are getting screwed. The salaries of the blue collar crowd are not keeping up with local/national inflation. Don't get me started on the infrastructure.

End

Hardly anyone is really catching UGA to be honest. I mean think about it. How do we crack the top 5 in recruiting given the teams in the SEC? I mean seriously.
