That's wild bud, that catfish was hungry evidently. I've caught them on crank baits before...........but that crank bait wasn't going 35 mph on the retrieve. 😂

If it'll float you may be on to something, but be aware everything you said will come true eventually. You'll have 5 grand in gear fishing out of a $200 boat. Guarantee it. You'll have to get a Garmin striker with at least a 7 inch screen, some new rod and reels, depending on what you want to fish for. Gotta have some ultra light rods for pan fish and crappie, its just goes on and on........
😂
I say 35, but I was 10 years old, probably doing 15mph and felt 35 to me. Either way, it seemed strange to catch a catfish like that. I'd bet it was really just a freak snare on it.

I'll have to limit myself. Rule 1: Can't buy anything that costs more than the boat itself.

A five pound catfish at 10 years old is still awesome to catch no matter how you catch it. But to catch it like that makes it even more awesome. That's just crazy.

You're gonna get tired of fishing with Ozark Trail gear.......

Name brand fishing gear is stupid expensive
Yes it is, most of it is worth it if you fish all the time, but once a month anglers are wasting money on the really good gear. Lews and daiwa combos are plenty good enough, bass pro has some decent combos for 160 and up too. I've got mostly Kistler gear but I fish alot, several times a month, so it kind of pays for itself as long as I take care of it.

Kistler and Falcon are what I use, mostly Kistler. The Kistler sensitivity is like nothing I've ever fished with and the rods weigh next to nothing...

I wanted a Kistler fly rod (have no clue what I'm looking for) but with my discount they are still 450 a piece. I haven't used one in almost 30 years, I have a cheap one from white river I used to catch bream on using popper flies. Lot of fun, but not worth the money. I'm also 3 hours away from any trout fishing so that kind of sucks too.

The Rock is wrong. It's been proven bad things happen when @Glitch starts a game thread.

Here is the mangy purple sascrunch...right on cue to besmirch my good name and my game threads.

all fun. i think fly rods come down to preference. in early 2000's got to cast an experimental Sage rod, ultra fast top of the line. i could tell a difference, since then it's been my own gear.

not sure where anyone who does guide could try gear out. i'd love to have a 3-4 wt, super fast rod. just for drys and bream. would be fun.

not sure. there's definitely places like that on cherokee
@Enki_Amenra
The Goat island group on Cherokee used to be good for that. They are out from the May Springs/Grainger County boat dock/Wa-Ni Village "coves". I did it, albeit 40-ish years ago, with no issues whatsoever.
Re: the boat motor issue, I had very similar reactions on a lawn mower. Granted, very different, but after replacing fuel filters, rebuilding the carb, replacing fuel lines, etc., it came down to random pebbles/sediment in the gas tank. After I got a clothes hanger and cleaned out the screened port between from the tank to the fuel line, it has run with no issues at all. Probably doesn't apply in your situation, but still...

One of many QB's who were drafted and suck in NFL.
Many QBs are drafted and suck in the NFL. Far fewer are drafted #1 overall and suck.

To this point, Young is among the worst #1 overall picks of all-time.

Like I said, if they could re-draft…

(Think the Panthers don’t regret taking Young instead of Stroud now?)
