Few musings
George looks great but unfortunately he's just so thin. I don't think he's quite ready to handle a full season physically. Aguilar will definitely be the guy going into game one imo.
Physically the freshman are quite impressive. David Sanders is a man. Brame, Radarious Jackson, Morris, Dye.
Linebackers will be the best we've had in a long time.
No real dynamic playmakers on offense it seems (right now at least).
Secondary will be better if McCoy comes back even close to healthy. DL isn't as twitchy but is really solid.
I'd expect OL to be better than last year. Moe was a good pickup. Pendleton is just a body. Perry will be good. Heard and Warren are in better shape.
QB play is really just a killer right now. Nico (and Carnell Tate) really hosed us as this could've been a real championship caliber team.
Nico really didn't show enough last year to assume that he'd be the linchpin this year. We basically won in spite of him last year; not because of him. He didn't set a bar last year that we should expect will be out of range for our current QB roster--and we went to the playoffs with that anemic QB play (with a bad loss to Arky nonetheless). That’s the disappointing thing about all of this. Could have been another playoff run with those pieces. I still wonder if it would have been worth the extra $$ to keep Nico for one more season. Big Nick may have been a headache but now we’ve traded that for our own QB headache.
Probably not but I hope Aguilar can handle the SEC DEFENSES, the two games in 2023 and 2024 vs Power 4 teams his completion pct. was not very good.I'm fairly confident it won't be Merklinger
Now do Merk's experience against SEC defenses.Probably not but I hope Aguilar can handle the SEC DEFENSES, the two games in 2023 and 2024 vs Power 4 teams his completion pct. was not very good.
In 2024 vs Clemson 43.9% completion rate. ( Okay crappy O-Line)
In 2023 vs UNC 51.2% completion rate vs the 94th rated passing defense .
Hope Aguilar succeeds but the SEC is a different beast compared to that juggernaut Sun Belt Conference....
Assuming regular season only:Board bet. I'll send a handmade pen to the winner.
Name the starting QB.
Name the number of games they start.
Name if any other QB starts (not plays)
Name how many games GM plays
Winner is responsible for letting me know they won.
I hate to turn keys over to a freshman. But if Gmac is best QB, then so be it.Probably not but I hope Aguilar can handle the SEC DEFENSES, the two games in 2023 and 2024 vs Power 4 teams his completion pct. was not very good.

I hope they give GMac a chance with the 1’s this week in practice. If he’s the best qb he needs to playI think a lot of people around the team genuinely think Gmac has been the best QB so far. But gotta keep in mind who who’s going against/running with. So I’m wondering if that starts to change for the staff to truly see what they’ve got
Perhaps I missed the point, which isn't uncommon, I guess. He has none just like the others....
I definitely want it to be Merk after seeing this highlight video…I mean it is bad bad. All 4 of his picks were on him imo (all thrown to wr’s blanketed by db’s) and he was forcing the ball to the wr’s all night
You're Fighting a losing battle. Most have annointed Aguilar as starter...
I'm fairly confident it won't be Merklinger
Aguilar is avg at best, Merk and GMac have no experience, wr’s are unproven and thin # wise. I think it’s best everyone tones back their expectations for the seasonProbably not but I hope Aguilar can handle the SEC DEFENSES, the two games in 2023 and 2024 vs Power 4 teams his completion pct. was not very good.

Definitely not worth it. Cancers in the locker room are almost never overcome by talent. That’s the disappointing thing about all of this. Could have been another playoff run with those pieces. I still wonder if it would have been worth the extra $$ to keep Nico for one more season. Big Nick may have been a headache but now we’ve traded that for our own QB headache.
I was scared more by the man hanging from a tree in the background of a clip. . .August 10, 1939
The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland and featuring words and music by E.Y. “Yip” Harburg and Harold Arlen, receives its world premiere in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It would open widely in U.S. theaters some two weeks later.
Admit it....the flying monkeys scared you too.....................

Dont believe I said Merklinger should be starting QB. I was just letting @JCVol00 know it's most likely not going to be Merklinger because most of the fans are on the Aguilar bus.Perhaps I missed the point, which isn't uncommon, I guess.
I was reading that post in this context:
FTR, I agree. I hope JA is ready for SEC defenses and absolutely shows out. If Merk is the best QB, I hope he starts and shows out. I'm just not sure I understand how JA's overall D1 experience and lack of SEC experience would be a mark against compared to Merk's HS experience.
I think he would have a good shot at starting if he wasn’t so thin. He accuracy is impressive. I wouldn’t hate it if Aguilar struggles to go ahead and let him take the ropes. Many teams do it now with freshmen. And I hope we do it with Faizon unless Gmac absolutely crushes it.I think a lot of people around the team genuinely think Gmac has been the best QB so far. But gotta keep in mind who who’s going against/running with. So I’m wondering if that starts to change for the staff to truly see what they’ve got
I think we could probably have decent expectations, considering our staff, and defensive/run game expectations. Personally, I suspect we'll be better than average and better than the talking heads predict--if not playoff caliber. (If we're "expecting" playoffs, then yah... Temper that and hope.)Aguilar is avg at best, Merk and GMac have no experience, wr’s are unproven and thin # wise. I think it’s best everyone tones back their expectations for the season
