Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I went from 240 to 185 by doing the following
1. Not being a fat ass and being aware of calories. I try to stay within 1500-1800 a day
2. Got rid of sodas that have sugar
3. Workout 4-5 times a week
4. Adult soccer once a week
5. Creatine. I'm on 5. It's a maintenance dose. Could up it but haven't yet.
6. Progressive overload style at the gym. I've gone up about 15-20 lbs on most exercises since March and about to up most of them again. I've prioritizes perfecting form before I up it so it's stretched longer than I probably should.
7. Profit.
Til you tear that ACL playing soccer and see how much you workout then… lol

As someone who battled it for a year partially thanks to a bad podiatrist and not sticking to full healing plan - do these

Get a sound plan and do it religiously until it is resolved or it will become chronic.

If it is acute currently get a boot or at least a sock with velcro to keep it in traction while you sleep or are resting. This allows that to heal without filling that painful Bursa. The bursa draining is what hurts.

Roll that bursa over a glass bottle or lacrosse ball to get the fluid out and help break up those crystals.

Stretch it before activities so it doesn't tear again. Especially after it heals and you get back to full output.

Above all IMO explore open toe and zero drop footwear options. Walk barefoot as often as you can or get footwear that mimics it. The more you build your feet and toes up the less this will happen. Modern running shoes are horrible for many foot types.

Thanks!

On the topic of fitness/weight lifting: I've thankfully aged out of this demographic, but I would hate to be a teenager or early 20-something trying to go to the gym now and dealing with expectations vs reality.

Influencers have absolutely nuked the brains of that generation into thinking that if you don't look stage-ready for a bodybuilding competition at all times, you aren't even lifting. Worse yet, many think those physiques are possible naturally in 1-2 years of lifting. Just insane.

Sad to think how many young impressionable people get disappointed when they lift for 6 months and aren't shredded, so they either quit or go straight to anabolics.
Man I second this!
The influencers in BB is ridiculous. Most claim natty while being juiced to the gills. Selling millions of dollars worth of their products to get you to look like them. I for one don’t care what people do with their body but don’t lie. Now the new and cool things are peptides. Which some have really good studies behind them.

The ones sitting out are the ones that have a starting job locked up. They don’t need to see anything from those guys. Get the younger guys reps.
We don't have anybody in that room with much real game experience...they all really NEED to be practicing balls to the wall every second they possibly can.

I have used both Tirz and Reta. Tirz was much harder on appetite. I do take a very small dose of Reta, just enough to maintain. I went off for a while and slowly everything went wrong. Cravings came back, sugar crept up, weight crept up, inflammation crept us. Yes, it's a crutch, but life is not much better on it.
That’s awesome man! Glad you found something that works for you. Science has really come a long way in helping our bodies where we need it.

I will start drawing my military pension in about 10 years. I am hoping to be close to having the house paid off by then and have enough other retirement socked away that Mrs. Glitch and I can retire and travel or do what we want at that point. I will only be 55 though, so I may just do a semi-retirement thing and just reduce my stress levels. Kids should all be out of college and on their own by then.

I'm so thankful I decided to do active duty and drew it right away

There are always outliers. I also doubt that your friend was actually consistently eating at a significant caloric surplus. Same thing with people who claim to eat very little while still gaining weight. People aren't very good at tracking caloric consumption--their own and especially that of others--unless they are weighing their food and being meticulous about it.

99% of adults who claim to be able to eat whatever they want without gaining any weight are usually either very active (even constant nervous fidgeting can result in burning significant calories) or they have periods when they gorge and periods of little to no caloric consumption. And that averages out to maintenance level caloric consumption for their BMRs.

Overweight people who say they can't lose weight despite barely eating usually snack frequently or have a few large meals here and there that keep them above a caloric deficit. Or they just have small leaks in their diets that add up. It's incredibly easy to accidentally eat 200-300 mindless calories throughout the course of a day, which for most people takes them right out of a deficit and results in no weight loss and even minor weight gain.
edit*

This isn’t true. Throwing a “99%” blanket statement is wrong. There are 3 basic body types. Endo, Meso, Ecto.

Not everyone is created equally

No ****
It takes good technique, diet, huge commitment to get bodybuilder like
I was never shredded, we did powerlifting so we looked big but were way stronger then most guys our size and age that tried to be cut and lifted 1 day a week thinking they were doing something

Anyone got any Plantar Fasciitis recommendations? Just now experiencing this. Right heel feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife in the mornings. Wears off as the day goes.

Inserts the best?
Never go barefoot anywhere for even one step. Get some crocs and wear them as house shoes. Put them by your bed at night and slip them on before you hit the floor in the morning. Once the pain flares down this will help prevent it from coming back. In the meantime, any soft sole insert like memory foam or gel can help a little. If you rub it hard enough it can fix it, but it has to be really hard and the pain level is so high it's not worth it.

I do intermittent fasting, dinner and occasional ensalada. Ive dropped 18.4 lbs since late Apr early May. Its dedication to more of a South Beach/ hybrid high protein diet.

Surprisingly im still not at my goal. I always tell skinny people trying to gain muscle, that sometimes - folks who add muscle stop - the atrophy product isnt always healthy.

Skinny people, it may not look cool when youre young. But, metabolisms slow way down. Your skinniness will pay off😆

Skinny people so be careful what you add, esp the folks at the cross trainings.
Gave this a like for the weight loss. Good job, man. Not sure I’m following a whole lot else in this. Hahaha. Did you black out while typing that last sentence?
