President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Do better. You're starting to sound like the Cheney's.

1500m – Level A Finals
  1. Irene Ngina of Kenya – 5:25.41
  2. Yukino Watanbe of Nippon – 5:36.12
  3. Ruta Bardiniene of Lithuania – 5:41.43
Ive got much better trigger discipline than the Cheneys.

Newt's Christmases must have sucked. For Apple fan bois, its going get real more expensive too.

Not really. Devil is in the details. The previously announced $500 billion over 4 years was already their annual American spend pre 2025. The additional $100B over 4 yrs was largely, according to Tim Cook, from 10 pre-existing contracts. For example, the bulk of it was from TSMC chips that they were already buying.....

Stock analysis who know much more about this see limited change to their existing cost and manufacturing structure and see less tariff exposure for this largely PR ploy...

Per Ives (most well known analyst followint Apple) "The stock bounced on this relief with Apple now in a better standing position with Trump although challenges remain. The reality continues to be that producing iPhones in the U.S. is unrealistic given the cost structure vs. Asia/India and remains a fairy tale concept in our view. Apple will invest in Macs, AI, and a host of other tangential initiatives, but NOT core flagship iPhones being built in the U.S."

"Recently, Trump canned the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Erika McEntarfer, claiming she had been incompetent and inaccurate with her monthly estimates of job growth in America. Critics of Trump’s move accused him of “shooting the messenger,” with former Labor secretary Elaine Chao defending the professionalism and security of the BLS’s survey.

“Imagine you’re in a job and you do the job so terribly that you are off by a massive factor,” Schweizer says. “Even before Trump was president, in March of 2024, BLS had to revise by 818,000 the number of jobs that were actually created. During the Biden administration, they overstated the number of jobs in the US economy by 1.18 million. That’s approximately 36 percent of all the new jobs” they thought had been created.

The problem with the BLS numbers being wrong is that they are one of the key metrics that the Federal Reserve looks at to make decisions about interest rates.

“Imagine you’re an accountant, and your numbers are off by 36 percent. Imagine you’re a plumber performing a plumbing job and your estimates are off by 36 percent of what needs to be done. Would that not be grounds for consideration to be fired?”

“This is something the expert class has created for themselves,” Schweizer says. “They overstate their ability to know things and, when challenged, appeal to their authority,” Schweizer says.

Does Trump know phones arent going to be built in the USA? Because that's what he wants/thinks.

Phone prices will still rise regardless if the phones are made here or not. Nothing is done cheaper in the USA...

The Trump quasi pyrrhic victory laps ccontinue.

They wont rise anymore than they already are (absent tariffs). Apple put a nice PR spin what they have currently committed to/currently doing as investment. When you already spend well over a $100B in the US annually, spending $500B over the next 4 years isnt really changing anything...

Analysts see no margin changes unless tariffs are implemented....

Again. Does Trump know the phones arent being made here? That's what he was harping about a few months ago. Or did someone convince him how retarded he was to think that?

Who knows honestly. Apple trying the PR dog and pony show to get out of tariffs. Anyone who spends more than 5 mins looking at it objectively sees what they are trying to do: Position what they are already doing, put a nice PR spin on it, play to his ego, and avoid tariffs.

I need Switzerland to do that otherwise I have to pull the trigger on 3 new Omega speedmasters this weekend.

Who's digging the new Rose Garden? Visions of Hampton Inn are dancing in my head. Makes me want to get a Styrofoam plate of dried out eggs and a tough as leather bagel and chow down in the morning sun while drinking crappy hotel coffee.

Looks like something that fits with a 3 star beach hotel, not the Whitehouse.

Dems suck so bad at this. If the roles were reversed, FOX and other usual suspects would get weeks of news out of this. Jordan would have launched a house investigation. There would be subpoenas and testimony.
