So this Ron fellow knows jack about golf. (or he does but is trolling those that don't) Putting at any kind of distance is hard, ask anyone that's spent time, you know, golfing.

Most of the lags were pretty darn good. (the 1st one was pretty weak but it was straight) The 3rd was pretty wide, I'm guessing a bad read.

The wild one was 6. That ball broke 5 times.

It does? I’ve never played best ball like that. Whether you’re showing your buddy the line or following up his putt the goal has always been the same, to me at least. Sink your putt.

Like I said in my edit of the first post I saw only one flyer. The rest were easy follow ups for any average golfer even.

I always thought you can be more aggressive on last putt if your partner has a given 2 putt, as you dont want to leave it short..although he left some short, but no context.

Ok maybe I guess. I’ve just always approached putting the same regardless of the game. Try to sink it but don’t f$&@ it up so bad you three putt. Mentally for me at least each first putt attempt is pretty much the same

That's like how we always played, especially off the tee and putting. Off the tee if you've got a smasher the goal was to get at least one good one in play and if you did he could try to come out of his shoes on his swing. If he ends up wild no real loss as we've got one to play. For putting everybody it obviously taking their best shot but giving the strongest putter an opportunity to read the other putts is an advantage.

it is just nuance..you know when someone tells you Dont Leave it Short..you dont have to worry about running it 3 feet by..maybe you can take some break out by stronger putt. you will never make it being short.. but yea..I get what you are saying.

I’d generally drive second and putt first. If my partner had a safe drive I’d let it rip as I was generally longest off the tee. And for at least the best ball partners I had it was an even ability on putting or I was weaker.

Since we’re doing anecdotal golf tales I’ll share what my neighbor/golf buddy told me at poker Saturday night.

He’s 81 and insists on playing white tees. And he’ll beat me by at least 5 strokes a round usually. Shoots mid 80’s with the occasional 81/82.

So he played with a group of elderly buddies who insisted on playing senior tees. He didn’t want to do it but that is what the group decided. Dude shot a 73 on par 72. This was last Thursday.
