President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Hard to proclaim they’re wrong though when one of there reasons the predictions have yet to realize is that Trump continually changes the terms such as his numerous exemptions.

If I were trying to access the impact of tariffs I wouldn’t even know what date to start because he announces, delays, exempts, it’s been all over the map
That's a good point, and that article addressed it.

Trump has shifted gears so many times now, that's it hard for those economists to pinpoint exactly what the tariffs will be and when they will actually take effect. Trump has been all over the place, as you say. How is anyone supposed to make an accurate prediction, when the terms of the tariffs are constantly changing?

We've brought in billions in tariffs this year. It's amazing that us consumers didn't have to pay it

The United States has generated $97.3 billion this year from tariffs as of July 1, the latest data available — 109.5% more than the same time last year.

That tariff windfall isn't being paid by foreign governments though, as Trump will often claim. For now, the tariffs are mostly being paid by American importers of raw materials .... and eventually, they will be built into the price that everybody is paying for goods. That's just how it is.

If that's your attitude? Fine ..... just be consistent about it, and don't start crying when Donald Trump gets attacked and directly blamed for the natural disasters which occur while he is in office. You can't have it both ways. If it's wrong for one party to politicize a natural disaster? Then it is wrong for both to do it.

.... and everyone knows you will start crying every time Trump is blamed. Your positions are completely grounded in political tribalism.
He is almost daily. I'm glad that you are so much more objective. 😂

We’ve been hearing this for 6 months. It hasn’t happened yet. I’m not convinced it’ll get passed on to consumers in many instances. The capitalistic principle of supply and demand still holds. For example if Walmart raises their prices, I’ll shop at Target and Meijer instead

Might also lead to town grocery stores supplied by locals kinda like farmer markets..I spend more money at local markets then I donated big box grocery..it cheaper, better and less food

Because Target doesn't use importers? To say that you are over-simplifying the matter is an understatement. Tariff costs will be passed on to the consumer eventually.

Tariffs ASSUME the consumer is gong to continue to purchase the imported (tariffed) product. What if the consumer changes and purchases a product that is higher quality and has the same or less price (American made)? Who pays for the tariffs then?

Most of the time the American product isn’t the same or less in price. Thus…inflation

Who pays for the tariffs then?

Obviously no one.

Or give the states time to get set up to do without FEMA and congress to properly disband it.
It's a little shocking to see him struggle so badly with this idea. If the means of doing X are "here" at this point and intended to be "there" later if something happens now is the argument you do nothing with the resources because they aren't set up "there" yet?

It's worth noting if we're taking FEMA off the board the transition needs to be handled correctly. If things go sideways in transition there's no way people aren't going to start bringing the grief and it will be much harder to defend.

And to add to that, what if Apple is forced to move their factories from China to a different country altogether that doesn't have the tariff burden? I think that's the point of all this to begin with. Get American companies out of China.
