We don't need as many but we still need military officers and the academies can't produce them all. Personally I think ROTC programs are a good investment, they're a better investment than Pell grants and other federal financial aid programs.

Retention of academy graduates past their required 5-6 years is why the military has to find more officers elsewhere IMO. Apx 2/3rds don’t stay 20 years.

20 years back the academies claimed a $100K+ investment for each year plus any additional training after graduation (flight school, nuclear school, etc) could easily approach $1 million or more investment in an academy graduate yet they only retain 1 out of 3 for a career. The military needs to figure out their poor retention record.

May be something to consider. I have also read the military culture is not very good. Top heavy. Bureaucracy. Favoritism. DEI. It all makes for a bad culture where people jump at the chance to go civilian.

The Navy tries to keep medical service personnel as long as possible. The air force on the other hand figures it cheaper to pay an O1 or O2 to look at feet or eyeballs than it is to pay O 3,4,5 etc

Advocate is a little strong. It's just that I just don't care what happens to them. If they want to vote in a government that ****s the legitimate citizens that live there that's on them and I have no sympathy. I also don't think the .government should be lending any assistance. The Medicaid issue is a perfect example. If NY wants to support illegals then that's on them, NOT the federal government.

My question to swampy was in regards to a recent poll that showed leftists pride in America has dropped to something like 24% from where it was. By contrast, Republicans even when Soetoro was in power were still up around 70%. What does that tell you? It's crystal clear to me.
